Peaceful Prater
The pop corn patter of spring rain
slathering the landscape
curling the fern fronds
closing the dandelion’s ruff
gully washers
speed through stone stream beds
marsh mallow yellow flowers
the lowlands and a misty
burgeoning peace settles over
a fresh May day....

Snow Melt - Sustaining A Dream
Sweeping into the lowlands
The river ran effortlessly
As the snow melted away
Running in a rage of glory
A quest set forth
To feed the valley of life sustained
From the cold despair
Each snowflake melting away
Forming a river of love
From tributaries and veins
A gift to reveal
A wonderous dream
Life giving water
Had formed a beautiful lake

The peopke rejoiced sustained for another day

Elephant Acrostic
Elastic evil in encroaching European’s enterprising motives.
Level-headed land animal leaves African lowlands.
Eventually they are followed by those who shall not be named.
Private collector hopes tusks will not be a mismatch.
Horrific hunters hold hand-held machetes.
Active game wardens wait for the hunter’s hammiest moment.
Newly arrested poachers rapidly chew their pink mastiche.
Threat to tusks thwarted, wardens sit down to taste tasty tzimmes....

Gone Haywire
How far
I have fallen
from your grace.
The stone I dropped into
the breach last week has yet to
find bottom.
Can you forgive the silence
from my heart aware ~
offering excuse and justification
unending until I am ashamed
that I thought I could ever hide from you.
Hear me, Father. Can you forgive me this
detour into black lowlands?
I see your light ahead. On humbled knees, God, will you
have me back . . ....

Journey of a Tune
A silent starting, on the misty highlands,
From unnoticed little springs.
Melodious song it does make, as to the lowlands it speeds
Soon rising and rising from a cheer to a roar,
As taking downward leaps from immense rocks
Gives rise to such crashes…booming across the countryside.
And through the plains… they spread in great distance,
Soothed in a merry laugh.
But the ending is as silent as the start;
The mighty ocean, it meets
And releases its burden, which it carried so far....
