Whenever you apply
Yourself, always remember
You're it, rely
On talents, center
On your abilities
Making that legal-tender,
Remember your responsibilities
Ultimately you'll deny
Disabilities, all hostilities.
The jig was up
and the seller got the shaft
as the fletcher (all a-quiver)
pricing feathers (more arrows for to craft)
saw the target total cost (legal tender)
as sky-high (yet altho' not immoral)
let fly and shot his bolt (at the vender)
which started quite the quirky quarrel
Sinister Sinner Who Became a Minister
wore big blister
was sinister minister
became senator
a legal tender
minister an offender
had been big spender
minister spinster
with a good looking sister
hard to resist her
had been beginner
then he cooked a great dinner
now a real winner
sailed with spinnaker
when a big wind did occur
hard to endure
Some merchants make life hard
when they won't accept a credit card.
Forget checks, or even gold dust.
They want those greenbacks that say "In God We Trust".
Goods and services are rendered each day.
However, cash is their only payment way.
Those legal tender pieces of paper are what they want today.
Inspired by another member's poem
She ran her fingers across my skin,
counting my scars as if they were legal tender.
I thought about the moment when skin
breaks apart, when life has a chance
to escape its cage.
I think she could see it in my eyes,
because her touch became a violent rush,
her nails hungry for the burst of
what was wrought between us.
And so, I bled for her;
Staining her hunger with the rage of scars
she couldn’t see.

In public exchanges, they rarely make their scenes
since they are rejected by most vending machines.
The United States Mint curtailed their production.
Numbers in circulation have faced reduction.
Just how many are out there, no one really knows.
These days, they can’t even be found in casinos.
If you ever find one of these, don’t let it go.
People rarely spend these. They hardly ever show.
This coin bearing the face of John F. Kennedy
is still considered as legal tender money.
