Beloved
Beloved, the air is wonderful
And the gather of the saints is evermore
...tenderful, love hearted
Lay aside a petrified spirit, and
Blend yourselves with peace and quiet
...blessed love, beloved...

Heart At Work
It is not possible to worry and pray at the same time,
Lay down the fears, frustration and anger,
Hands balled in fist do not come together well,
Hands open lay aside worry,
Clasp hands completing a divine human circuit....

Butterfly
Open up
I say to thee
obey the voice
of destiny

partake you now
of natures faire
come taste the fragrance
in the air

awaken
out of long remiss
lay aside thy chrysalis

open up
I beg of thee
open....
open sesame!...

Butterfly (A Revision)
Open up
I say to thee
obey the voice
of destiny

awaken now*
to summers fare*
and taste the fragrance
in the air

awaken
out of long remiss
lay aside thy chrysalis

Open up
I beg of thee
open...
open sesame!

Premium Member Pristine
Pristine

an elegant word
somehow perhaps
out of reach..

at some time
or many times
perhaps this evening
we need experience
ourselves as Pristine..
we lay aside
all our self-doubt
opinions of others
our successes
religion's chiding
and inquire..what
remains..?
then to recognize
our Pristine within
which never dies
remains......

The Time Has Come
The time has come
To see the unseen
To dream bigger dreams
To speak words of life
Believe and not doubt
The time has come
To stand
Yes, stand
Even if you have to stand alone
The time has come
To lay aside worries and concerns
To walk the walk of faith
The time has come
To dance a new dance
To sing a new song
Oh yeah, the time
Your time has come...

Premium Member Soldier
A faithful soldier I wish to be
in God's army of the cross.
With Satan, I do daily battle
often sustaining minor loss.

As I pray each day for guidance
in all God would have me do.
I feel a peace and satisfaction
when tested by fire and I come out true.

Someday, my earthly armor, I'll lay aside
battles here, shall exist no more.
I'll retire unto eternity with Jesus
to be a soldier on that golden shore....

Grief
I awaken,
    And it is still there.
It hangs there beside me
   Like a garment I wear.

   I cannot shake it off,
   It clings like the dew.
First thought in the morning,
And last in the evening too.

     All through the day
I am reminded it is there,
By thoughts that fly backwards
     Stilled only by prayer.

      It is a heavy cloak
      I long to lay aside.
I know I shall discard it
After all the tears have been cried....

So Too We Love
. for public domain

We lay aside our wanton pleasure,
to mine the jewels and ore we treasure,
endure hot suns and furrowed brow,
culture new seed after we plow,
despite the moments of regret,
that soil our fruitful silhouette.

We take on task, we take on trial,
for what we see is well worth while.
So too we love as do we labor,
for heart's delight or gentle neighbor,
fruits we harvest but not possess,
but priceless treasure nonetheless....

Premium Member Using Discretion
It is important we do not get our knickers in a pinch And wind up acting like the mean, old Grinch Especially during this season of happiness and cheer, Let’s lay aside our nasties and unleash them next year. Surely if we can be kind and patient for the while From our critics, we will most likely elicit a smile, And, who knows, we may even forget our discontents, For “discretion is the better part of valor” makes sense.
