Laverne, Shirley, Big Ragoo
And there’s Lenny and Squiggy
Making dodo dreams come true.
Doing itsu way.
Laverne and Shirley
their fame in the main had come early
retiring at twenty
they had thought their residuals would have been plenty.

There once was an accountant named Laverne
Her clients' loyalty she'd always earn --
She never talked tax
She gave them Ex-lax --
Made it so 'easy' to file their return

Lady Laverne, loving mother and friend
A strong-willed, hard working woman
Victorious over her life's struggles
Earnings were scant but she managed well
Raising three kids on her own was tough
Nevertheless she never gave up
Eliciting the eternal love and gratitude of her children

For Tammy Reams Acrostic on Mother's Day contest
Laverne a man from Po' Biddy
Raised by himself with no family
Lived off the land and by God's hand
His favorite was turtle soup real bland
One day he drank some toxic moonshine
Then the turtle started talking real fine
Laverne got scared and jumped in the river
He drank like a fish and swole his liver
Laverne could not eat turtle and taters again
He felt it was a real sin to eat talkin' kin
Happy Birthday Mama I love you so much.
I miss your loving heart and your kind touch.
When you left me it's been over two years.
I'm not sure if I'm able to dry all my tears.
For some reason I miss your phone calls.
I think of you every time I see a porcelian doll.
My love for her will always stay true.
Happy Birthday Mama I will always love you.

From Minneapolis Minnesota three pop female musicians were born.
LaVerne, Maxene and Patricia, known as the Andrew Sisters
They introduced the United States to Jump Blues and Calypso
I recognize some of their hits instantly when I hear them.
Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree with Anyone Else But Me.
This trio’s music was jazzy and rhythmic, it was toe-tappingly fun.
Their songs had an up tempo, preceding rock and roll
Bette Midler is someone who can still sing in their unique style.
