Childhood
A child stumbles
sundrunk
to the top of a rock.
"I am King of the Hill!"
he says.
I wonder how many others
stood on that rock
to claim it as their own....

King of the Hill
He sits on a throne;
a green and mounded hill.
a velvety yellow crown
on a cat without teeth.
Waves are gently blown
on a carpet of grass,
in the palace of nature.
as if a royal envoy
brings forth a message:
"summer has come,
king Dandelion."...

Post-Culture War
Watching the extinction
of the paleo
as the death
calls
them
to the crank lab or product
or the prison and psych-ward.

Those that are still here
await Jeff Foxworthy
for exploitative representation
finding
Dale on the the King of the Hill
solace.

Ants
Stupid ants
Wreck each other
Kill yourselves
As none other

Repeated cycle
All in vain
Teach another
Undue pain

Who will play
King of the hill
When one is never
Better still

Understand
The pretense being
He can never
Be all seeing

Wrest each mandible
From the other
Lay these weapons
Down asunder

Was the whole
All worth the end
Does the act
In worth amend?...

Fleeting Power
Look who is trembling in the corner, helpless
As a dog that has lost its fearful bark and bite;
Man of the moment he used to be, merciless,
Endlessly going after perceived rivals in sight.

Driven by greed for power and devoid of civility,
Undoing old statutes to fit his crazed ideology,
Cast from the throne, a sorry image of a man,
King of the hill, king of clowns, is now all done....

Molested By a Dolphin
(This is a fictional poem)

I warned my cousin not to swim with that dolphin.
He swam with it anyway but he won't do it again.
I told him the dolphin would molest him just like that dolphin molested Hank Hill.
When my cousin got in the water, he didn't know that the dolphin was looking for
a thrill.
He got molested and whenever he thinks about it, he gets ill.
I knew it would happen because I watch King of the Hill....
