Thanks For This Fancy Guitar

I stare at my new turquoise guitar
too fancy for me, but you have to know my grandma
remembering when Jimi Hendrix set his Stratocaster on fire
how could he?

Castles

QUOTE: "And so castles made of sand, slip into the sea, eventually." by Jimi Hendrix.

As the queen of all your castles,
I couldn't love you more.
Prove me wrong.

Star-Spangled Pilgrim

There once was a lad named Cy Milgram
A regular cool and hip pilgrim --
   He saw Plymouth 'Rock'
Said, "Fast forward the clock!" --
Played Jimi Hendrix ~ nearly killed 'em

The Beat of the Sixties

The Rolling Stones were the bad boys
   Amped-up volume, lyrics semi-obscene
Jimi Hendrix -- hypnotic, Frank Zappa -- psychotic
The Monkees? ~ Even their fingernails were clean

A Vignette-Jimi H

Made my name in Monterey
BB,Muddy ,the key to how I play;
Bell bottom fashion was my thing,
Little Richard was my king
like his voice,my guitar sings.

Something For Jimi

Tonight,
I had a date with the mountain

Tonight,
I made those promises impend

Tonight,
behind the shadow of my fear

Tonight
—the devil smiled at me again

Drums 'n' Guitar

Tho' right-handed instruments the two do play yet one is downside up left-handed musicians both are they or seem to sup from a similar southpaw cup and if you follow the trail of crumbs they lead to Jimi the Starr of guitar and stick to Ringo the Hendrix of drums

Stratocaster Man

Jimi Hendrix
Drug filled days
Lived his life
In a purple haze

His music
Is a monument
To what it's like
When life is spent

Picking guitars
With your teeth
Never touching
floors beneath

He flew so high
He could touch the sky

Stratocaster in his hand
Hendrix was an awsome man

Jimi Hendrix..Rock Star and Legend

J	imi, a talented guitarist
I	n the world of Rock
M	ade young girls cry
I	n his world, how he shined!

H	ard wired to play
E	arly love for guitars
N	ever found Nirvana
D	ying each day, endless pain
R	iding strings of his music
I	n his mind, demons taunted
X	iting too soon, young legend!

Roll One For Me

drive the car
I'll roll the joint
on the 8 track
jimi
we'll smoke and drive around
pick up your friends
go to the woods
when its full dark maybe we'll park somewhere
that dark road
and kiss
mostly we hung out
smoked
traded 8 tracks
soon I could roll a perfect one
anywhere
even on your back

Jimi Hendrix

From the Festival at Monterey
Through Woodstock and his anthem play
His Experience and Band of Gypsys days
To his icon hit, Purple Haze

We remember Jimi even today
His wah-wah pedal and feedback ways
It’s so sad that he ended his days
Far too young to hear the praise.

Bold As Love

A life, so amplified
in screaming rock and roll

From troubled home,...trebles honed
Legend grew as bold as love

He played plugged in, beneath the night
Of midnight lamp, ...yet still alone
And we will see a future of a thousand years
still screaming glory that he'll never know

Excuse Me, Jimi

Excuse me while I kiss the sky
Seeking answers – why’d Jimi die?

Perhaps it was the Burning of the Midnight Lamp
Hey Joe! Don’t know? Revisit his amp

Purple Haze shrouded by mystery
Woodstock legend resounds in history

Vietnam veteran’s soulful, haunting cry
Excuse me while I kiss this guy

The Room Full of Mirrors

Why are you here?
said Jimi
In the Room Full of Mirrors.
You don't know what I saw!
said Izabella
In the Room Full of Mirrors.
Have you heard about the wall?
said Pink
In the Room Full of Mirrors.
Why did you kill them all?
said Jimi
In the Room Full of Mirrors.

Hate Is Love

Hate is Love

You did everything
And I only let you know
When it was wrong
Anger builds
Fights happen
Hate is everything
I hate you
And you left

You did everything
And I never let you know it
When you were right
Happiness is around us
Life is good
Love is everything
I love you
Please come back

Not At Home

At home? But feeling homely, not homely

Why? How? or maybe where?

Home is where the heart is, right?

Feeling a little restless

Energy is abundant, so I must go

In search of a homely place

So away, far away, I go

To a beautiful place of refuge and belonging

Like Jimi, on to London to get put on

Yonder, I must go, for what I thought was not at home

For Jimi

If 9 were 6 and 6 were 9,
Everything would be just fine.
Ballgames wouldn't take quite so long,
Fewer clouds needed for a feeling so strong.
The Revolution's number wouldn't be so high,
And we'd sleep a bit deeper after we die.
But cats would have to be more careful,
And rolling dice would be less cheerful.
I suppose it wouldn't be a universal fix,
To make 6 into 9 and 9 into 6.

Eclectic Electric

Fender strung upside down
big hands pressing strings to frets.
 Woodstocks’ last scheduled act, Jimi
exercized his “Right to Free Speech.”
The world heard an eclectic electric version
of “Star Spangled Banner.” Those notes still
reverberate “All Along the Watchtower.”

“Hey Joe,” “Are You Experienced?”

 “WELL, I AM !”

Is Your Aria Born Alone

Is it first the
Music
And then the
Words
Or do the
Words
Come first?
Elton John says it
Works
Either way
Bob Dylan’s
Words create
The meaning
That Ray Charles
And
Jimi Hendrix
Explode
Is all timing
Real
Or just
Imagined?
Is the structure
True or
False?
Do your words
Beget the
Melody
Or is your
Aria
 —born alone?

Jimi

Author’s note: (This poem is true. Nothing in it is falsified or purposely omitted, even to
protect the guilty. Written one day that I had to take a z pak and some crazy cough
medicine (prescribed).)

Here I sit, sick in bed,
With Jimi Hendrix swirling in my head.

Such anarchistic style,
Topped off with a fetching smile.
Talent beyond the norm,
But his life turned into the Perfect Storm.

Can'T Sleep

I hate it that I can't sleep,
These are not the hours
I'd care to keep,
I get so tired, with
no relief,
I swear to God, I
sometimes weep,
Awake sometimes for
seven or more days,
Puts my mind in a perpetual
purple haze
Sorry Jimi, you did amaze
The clever use of your
lyrical phrase,
You were , for me,
a musical craze,
But, back to issues,
Issues to me deep,
Oh my God, please
let me sleep!
