Inauguration Day 2017

Prime Minister May
And Merkel, too,
Are prone to give Trump some rope
They're not cutting slack
Just watching their back
To avoid our President's grope . .

Bluebeard - Inauguration

Did you know? Did you see? Did you hear?
Did you think? Did you hope? Did you sneer?
For today is the day
that Bluebeard goes away!
Bid adieu to his mountainous rear!

JFK delivered a rousing speech on Inauguration Day
Peace Corps, New Frontier, Camelot -- He had so much to say

Yet so many folks don't recall any of that
All they remember's he took off his hat

Make America Grate Again

Before the Inauguration
the man must divest himself
of his stocks and bonds

close every hotel he owns
lay off hundreds of employees
so they have time to hitch

a ride to Washington and sell
red caps for his inauguration
to make America grate again.

Just Saying

I am blessed and grateful I know where my energy lies.
I just wish there was just as much energy on God that is on the inauguration, white supremacy, Trump, the impeachment, social media and all these other distractions.

The enemy's number one target is the mind. Guard your mind.
Stay prayed up.

Working Out

Working Out

Decades ago
presidential elections were
every four years

Rest between sets
quiet days ward off
carabolic states

Now, the madness starts
on the first
Wednesday of November

Taper before the race
hydrate and carbo load
stretch and relax

Newscasters make predictions
hours after inauguration
“who is the fittest?”

Trump's Inauguration

Some people are celebrating while others feel devastation.
I am happy because today is Donald Trump's Inauguration.
It's what some people want and what others resent.
Donald John Trump is now our forty-fifth President.
I support him as his Presidency begins to advance.
I believe that he should be given the benefit of the doubt, he deserves a chance.

One Giant Leap For Black People

It was one giant leap when we landed on the moon.
It will be one giant leap for black people soon.
Over the years black people have come a long way.
They'll come even farther when Obama becomes President on inauguration day.
It was wonderful when Barack Obama won on election day.
It will be one giant leap for black people when he becomes President of the USA.

A Historic Event

An historic event took place
On November of 2008
Barack Obama was the
First black president to
Be elected
History had been made
It had never been seen before
Which shows that this country had
Moved forward in time
It was a beautiful thing
To witness all the support
He had at his inauguration

Alternative Facts

The earth is flat. We'll never die
And unicorns exist.
Olympic athletes never cheat;
Decorum won't be missed.

The sun did shine when Donald Trump
Took office; folks all bowed
Because they formed the largest yet
Inauguration crowd.

When Colbert talked of "truthiness,"
He meant it as a joke.
When lies disguise as facts, our dreams
Will all go up in smoke.

South Africa 24

1994,
the inauguration
of our new nation.
Blacks' dedication
against violation.
The Black collaboration
for our liberation
against exploitation,
like Israel's salvation.
A freedom's invitation
from oppression
to secure black population.
Our vetarans, our inspiration.
Freedom, the celebration
of our destination
from generation
to generation.

To All Beginning Poets

You may get to read at the
             inauguration
      But the chance
            of that is
       miniscule
           Perhaps you
    dream of great loves
     Perhaps you
       dream
         of utopia
Take advice from those
    who are
reading you
   You will learn that
          your words
can build edifices
   of hope
inside the minds
   of untold thousands

In Trump's Hands Lies Trust

another feather for the duck
adding more color to his plumage
today his inauguration struck
delight in the mason's movement

their man rode past Hillary's sewage
cutting her off at corners delight
some say in the candid secrecy of night
i pray that this is wrongful rumors
and duck walking turn out alright
for on his wings rest, restless tumors

Inauguration..

A preliminary message

Ignited the chaos..featuring

Sharpness and compression and

Macabre hilarity.. penetrating our

Heart of Democracy..the wounding

Was not out there on the steps and rooms..

Those horrors seemed to harbor.. in the

Moment..dark facades of fascism..

Until a mirror revealed our darkness

With a glimpse.. inaugurating a new

Bend on our homeward road...

Premium Member Turning the Page On Outrage

A red-streaked panorama graced Washington's dawn
Clear lake-blue skies there all day long
Portland smoke-gray, from tear gas and pepper spray
Antifa showed its true colors on Inauguration Day

Not a hint of outrage from the government or the press
It's alright if the fascists are left-wing, I guess
At the Inaugural Ball, attendees donned their prettiest dress
Masks muting their 'concern' over the Oregonian mess

Inauguration Day

It's clear. Sunny deadly town,
its square with old young bones is lined.
Cold furtive faces wave the flag
and soldiers guard them and the time.

On concrete a brass band struck up,
A man stepped on a carpet red.
His hand he's keeping on his chest,
into a pantheon heavy steps.

Its fatty body's clapping out,
a daughter of Jezebel on stage,
one right-believer, three lean men.
A speech. A pause. A burst of cheers.

Inauguration Day

I couldn't watch; I plugged my ears.
(My husband turned it on.)
A sadness filled me up; I fear
My way of life is gone.

The new administration
Will not welcome folk like me
And in the next 4 years we can't
Predict how things will be.

I haven't felt this out of touch
Since protesting the war
(Viet Nam, while in college);
I was angry to the core.

But now that rage is tempered
By despondency and fear
For I never ever thought
That such a thing could happen here.

Inauguration

I witnessed the brightest star born into a firmament of hope and love. Writing and speaking truth from above. A new future for her country and the children who aspire to extinguish the destructive fire of deceiver and liar. So now bow to the truth of this wonderful woman.. @amandascgorman She who is mentoring and entering the syllabus that teaches all of us how to live with hope and trust. For hear these precious words.. we must.
