Pearl Wedding

When we first met
You were impossibly irritating,
And yet, so stubbornly persistent that,
Like a piece of grit in an oyster,
You just stayed put,
Until, over time,
We created something beautiful.

Sirens

Sirens lie of love, following where angels fear to tread
Cold and lost in desperation, in blindness we are led
Cold and lost in desperation, impossibly all alone
Adrift with no beacon, calling the way back home

Invasion of the Northern Lights

INVASION OF THE NORTHERN LIGHTS

            swift light loop
         lariates the mountain
             impossibly

                 nocturnal
            ancient spirit duels
                 sky terror

The Blinding Light of All Things Impossibly Solitary

I MUST FEEL EVERY MOMENT. around. ME, when. I'm the ONE in a CROWD|| There are. NO GODS. left. in OUR. Crowds, our. HUDDLED. masses, sulking|| Here there are. NO CROWDS. no, never WERE. any. crowds, here in. my . own . SAHARRA||

Only the Good

Teacher and students
Sitting slumped in impossibly rigid chairs
Staring at
Shadows creeping deftly into
Corners never considered
Classes never attended
Vacations never enjoyed
Wedding bells never rung and the
 Glorious reality that
“Only the good die young.”

Morning Glimpses

MORNING GLIMPSES

showering
         sudden daddy
                 those impossibly thready legs

morning coffee
cat intrudes
sugar in its fur

out the kitchen window
snow lingers
on one flat rooftop

coffee and
       wonderful morning quiet
shattered! by rock

String of Haiku

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT! Early morning gun Sharp echo in countryside Russet feathers fall. LURE Haunting siren song Echoes through the morning mist Sailor's nemesis. MIDNIGHT DREAMS Midnight dreams take hold World impossibly real Pinch me and I’ll wake.

Outbound Flight

A silver green beetle in the palm of your hand
click clacking click clacking
it's credulous wings
to the metal bent rhythm of flying
A string of invisible gravity spinning
impossibly lifts him right into the blue
We stand there and marvel alone in his echoes
and tap out a rhythm of feet on the move...

Hold On to That Thought

Hold on to that thought!
It was put there for a reason.

That not-so-good idea?
Might be perfect for next season.

The inkling of a dream
That looks impossibly big

Is perhaps your way forward
To a new innovative gig!

You were put here a creator
Of mind-blowing destinies.

The world to reckon with
An everlasting legacy!

Real To Me

They're real to me
the monsters that plague my day and night
What else would they be?
I know I am wrong, but they feel so right
Those creatures that I see
and those who speak, out of sight
They're a part of my psyche
they just won't stay inside
I find my mental lock and key
to lock them up tight
But they escape, impossibly
to bring me another fight

A Laugh From a Beautiful Woman

Sapphire eyes sparkle.
Cheeks glow a deeper shade of perfect.
Pink lipstick glistens
..on lips pulled to a smile over sugar-white teeth.
You think I’m funny.
I think you are impossibly more beautiful now.
Your smile grows lusty
..to a laugh, unplanned, playful, and luscious.
I fall silent with a desperate need
to make you laugh again.
My magic is gone.

Sweet Melodies . . .

A sweet cocophany of laughter
So irrefutably audibly pleasing to the ear
A peal of innocence imbibed
Each note so casually perceived
Mere words so impossibly neglect to accomplish
A few delirious chortles resound
Awakening childhood delights so contagious I find
Stealing a glance impishly rewarding
I retire quietly myself unquestionably, irrefutably sated

To Have and To Hold

you are the rigid lines
of a spine unseen
you are my bonsai woman
you are my broken queen

the instep of a dancer
inclined impossibly
you are Venus famished
with flies beneath her feet

you are the victor, her valor,
the sword deep in her chest
you are my iron maiden
and I shall have no rest

not until you are
mine plus mine are we
do I take you to be
lawfully wed to me

You'Re Old

Ponder the extreme vastness of our known universe from time’s earliest dawn to the present day. Eons ago, beyond our wildest reckoning, when all matter was birthed…then by incomprehensible force, scattered over distances unfathomable. Amidst that colossal chaos a fleck, impossibly small, had all the ingredients to become the Earth which contained so importantly the matter that is you.

Amorous Alchemy

Ever it was, so let it be
The sun, moon, stars
Venus and Mars
And man's heart, stoically.

Ever it shall, so let it say
When upon morning's light
Struggles, sacrifice, fight
Over love hold sway.

Ever it will, so if I must
Bend impossibly unbroken
Give more than yet token
Yea, risk all my being, on trust.

Ever it is, so let us be
You were, I was, we are
And having journeyed far
Our horizon beckons wantonly.

Pictures of Holocaust Victims

They are always grainy.
Slightly out of focus due to age.
Their subjects stand sadly stoic.
Their faces all the same but different.
Eyes dark with hopelessness and pain
sprinkled with some sense of disbelief.

These pictures, some seventy years after they were snapped,
still scream impossibly loud with their silence.
Countless faces, forgotten to the fog of time,
stare back blankly begging for compassion
that will never come.

Weasels

Did I ever tell you about the time
I saw a pair of wild weasels in the
parking lot of the government bunkhouse
I was staying at for the season

And they made me cry
because I had been so misled about weasels
up until that point

No on bothered to mention the
long slender tails and the impossibly slim bodies
and the two-toned palette
of brown and gold
and the joy
with which they hop about
why had no one mentioned
the joy?

A Life Afloat

Our moveable house painted castle and rose, not a life we would have chose.Eighteen fifties harsh and mean, coal cargo so nothing stays clean.Doff your cap, touch your forelock every two mile at the gatekeeper's lock.
Clothes dry on a washing line strung, home for a time whilst the toddlers were young. As their number increased and grew ,places to sleep all too few.Family life impossibly hard so back we went to a tied cottage in Anchorage yard.

Fate of Stone

Lost beyond the most ivory of peaks,
perfection glitters,
as lost echoes are all that speak.

Prisoner of Fate's stone cast hold,
impossibly frozen,
memories forgotten under this Titan's cold.

Awaiting the dark to take me in,
save me, breathe me,
bring life back to this skin.

Your love, my last chance at light,
glowing purely,
burning embers press on to fight.

Don't leave me here to die alone,
hold my touch,
Take me from my fate of stone.

Oh, To Preach

Oh, to preach, to pontificate
Seize the “bully” pulpit
Bask in the reverberations
Of your own voice
Mock the sanctity of silence

To expound on the simplicity
Of the impossibly attainable
Berate the questioners
Expound on humility
In stained glass superiority

To infiltrate the openness
Of childlike minds
Inculcate the innocence
With tainted seed

Oh, rave on
You echo-chambered ego
Your bellicose denials
Deny their truth

Old Man Thuse

OLD MAN THUSE

Was Methuselah an ancient astronaut?
Did he live nine hundred years?
Yes to both say a few enlightened seers

Did he visit Earth in a rocket ship?
Did he wear a space suit?
Possibly and used a laser gun to boot

Did Ezekiel really see a wheel way up in the middle of the air?
Was old Methuselah piloting that space ship?
Had he taken an impossibly long trip?

Truth is no one really knows
Witnesses though many are all dead
Belief must be taken on faith enough said
