Pearl Wedding

When we first met
You were impossibly irritating,
And yet, so stubbornly persistent that,
Like a piece of grit in an oyster,
You just stayed put,
Until, over time,
We created something beautiful.

Holy mother-of-pearl, perfectly put. : ) I love the theme, and indeed - sometimes enemies become the fastest of friends, or more.

I think there's something amazing found when two people can grate on each other or cause each other ire and yet in time they find something beautiful, well wrote!

I wonder how many relationships have started with someone saying 'I can't stand him/her!'

Oh, I love this poem, it's simply wonderful, it's so imaginative! That path to creating a pearl, written so well :)

One of those images/poems that just 'floated to the surface' one day. Nice when that happens.
