Cheshire Moon

the bottom half of the moon smiled
grinning through the haze of dawn
soft glow casting shifting shadows
across the glistening hoarfrost

Premium Member October Rain - Etheree
As
hoarfrost
forms on the
colorful quilt
beneath autumn's trees,
raindrops begin their free
flight fall, their pure October
symphony in solitude with
the restless wind, unpredictable
as my contemplation of our future.

Premium Member Crystalline Teardrops
Crystalline Teardrops fall
covering my world
in winters hoarfrost.

With your frigid nature
you buried loves lament
beneath sorrowful snowflakes.

The warm embers of passion
have been extinguished
drowned in icy slush.

The memories
of your fallen snow angels
will no longer sustain me....

The East

The East wind is cold
and is full of hoarfrost.
It crosses the land,
in a wild storm, raging!
It is heavy with hail,
and larger black rocks...
of mud and dirt.
It contains fist-sized stones,
to hammer the land
into a new shape.
Soon the west
will be unrecognizable.
and foreign
to those that live there....

November comes, cold winds in tow,
Thanksgiving feasts, and fireplace glow;
short days, hoarfrost, last pots of mums.
Cold winds in tow, November comes.

Premium Member Winter's Slow Dawn
As summer fades, leaves start to fall;
old memories, you won’t recall
get slowly taken by the worms.

It’s sometimes hard to come to terms
with winter leaving branches bare;
that buds once started growing there.

Your summer’s verdant blush of green
will evermore remain unseen
by multitudes of fruit you bore.

While slowly, hoarfrost chills your core....

Chilly winds and hoarfrost light
collaborate to signify
October’s taken hold.

Distant hills are masterpieces.
God, the Artist, planned the blend
of hues from red to gold.

Mums and pumpkins grace our porches.
Weather varies, day by day,
from gray to bright and bold.

Windows mask the loneliness of youth
gazing through a misted pane of glass
pawing at the wonder of escape
momentary cell mates face to face.

Windows mock the cold of autumn winds
cold dew that drips along the hoarfrost edge
smiley faces drawn on hazy view
a sunbeam aura slowly breaking through.

No More But Faith
My world is rusted
and don in a hoarfrost coat
to make a bard of hustler
gods had to skip the code

this may seems wild
but gods are making things
not always as mankind
no soul have wings

and yet it's rises all along
or wind - a jolly lad
despite the lack of tongue
still whistles like a mad

my world is straight
and narrow as poet words
demands no more but faith
of ever-anxious gods...

Autumn Sets In
Autumn sets in

Forgotten are the hot,
humid and wet days,
as autumn has reached,
Shivering icy fingers,
hoarfrost consolidates at my window sill,
Early sunset and shortening of days,
light snow sets in spirits,
Champing at the bit
enthusiastic children,
This year sure will sight
an abundant frost on Christmas trees !

Premium Member Never Trust a Hungry Mouse
a gray squirrel sits
motionless atop the fence
winter tugs its tail

silence at daybreak
a weak sun battles hoarfrost
ice diamonds sparkle

a cat shakes its paw
the kittens lost their mittens
a snowman chuckles

the congregation
huddles together in prayer
six feet apart

fun for all ages
Pacman and toilet paper
let the games begin

a lesson not learned
never trust a hungry mouse
to clean up its mess

Oh, I'M Mad With the Gloom
Oh, I'm mad with the gloom
burning fast to the ground,
I will not be your groom,
You are cold, you are crowned.
You're indifferent as steel,
And the moment's not nice,
Dust of soul, I can feel,
turns in eternal ice.
And the pattern on chest
now is made of hoarfrost,
And the eeriness blessed
that you're not mine, you're ghost.
I'll burn out like the dawn
crumbling to dust so soon,
I am cold when you're gone
And I'm mad with the gloom....

Premium Member The Tree That Britches Saw
During the frigid night
Hoarfrost has embraced her branches
As a tight fitting tunic,
Tailor made, just for her.

Night wind's chafing bite
Has long since given way to crisp morning air,
And snow has lengthened into fog,
Past where aqueous eyes can take in.

Facing east, car's window rolled down,
A broken barb wire fence, this tree,
And a subtle hint of promise,
Where a rising sun will soon be.

This tree sat alone in a large pasture and was a sight to behold....

Her hoarfrost painted fingernails send shivers racing down my spine and a gaggle of goosebumps quickly raise the alarm for feeling her touch chilling my flesh I shudder at my core. ~ A cruel and empty hearted mistress queen of ice and snow, Winter subjects the land to Her freezing bitter winds while snowflakes bury Autumn under bland blankets of white on white.
