Ammophila

Beyond the sand dunes the ocean lies
framed by lush Ammophila grass;
Soft breeze caressing your skin
harnesses you for life;
Pooling a deep love
for what’s boundless;
Wanderlust
enthralls
you.

taking a break

taking a well deserved break in the forties
on a high construction beam above New York
where the twenty-seventh floor will someday be
we did not dare annoy the guys next to us
none of us wearing safety harnesses

Dust Covered Dreams

Sadly
He watched the old barn
Wither, fade, weep
Forgotten by time.
Neglect
A dereliction of youth
Seeking the future
Forgetting the past.
The old harnesses cracked
Tools bent by gravity’s inertia
Dust covered dreams
Wilting in silence
As an old man
Watches

Traversing the Orchard

TRAVERSING THE ORCHARD Sunny green blossoming Crisp red and yellow Xanadu fruit Paramour of buzzing bees Likewise festival high wire lines scream with harnesses of feet flying like Tarzan from tree to tree Hands grab delicious floating dessert plucked into baskets, cider and pies Delectable dessert of the doctorless wise 4/17/2018

Quest Realised

Achievers Brave Conscientiously Duties,

   Every Framework Greatly Harnesses Impulse,

               Justifying Know-how Likely Manifest---

   Non-stop Obligation Pursued---Quest Realised---

              Satisfying Tasks---Undergone;Everyone Seeking

Success Must Climb The Ladder From His Present

                Condition Or Duty.

Mahakaal

So many times I chanted the prayer
from childhood to now that I forget
what I pray for or want repeating
mantras while walking at dusk or seeing
images on the lingam that stir
the flame Shiva harnesses deep within

my numbed feet stop before growling dogs
trained to ignore strangers whose lips don’t utter
their names or who aren’t free in leash like them
I fail to filter the chasing darkness
from roadside temple to Sarna Enclave

Ice Skates

A taste for winter
before it has neared.
Like a taste, remembered by smell.
Coats and scarves sitting alone, deserted in the summer light.
Fingers stretch to feel the wool of gloves.
Feet - free, running in the tall grass,
Will soon break-in ice skates,
Solid leather giving way to a practised grace.
An icy reflection of breath harnesses time
While the Black bears sleep their days away
Rivers cease their roars, frozen under winters metallic torch.

Lee Retiree, 66 Remix

Lee Retiree, 66 Remix
Never one to be lazy,
Lee’s energy astonishes,
Clarity hallmark avoids the hazy,
Kristie et. al. he garnishes,
Materials investigator a la Dick Tracy,
Friends, Lee never tarnishes,
Quick stick moves as a Blue Jay,
Loyalty, he harnesses,
Learned from all at Poly,
Save the nobility (Kedusha),
Of the morning (Youthfully),
For some, retiree harshness,
An evening, but we wish Lee’s a dawning Be!

Promises

I said I didn't trust promises,
so you made up your own special type.
We lock pinkies and kiss.
It's a new kind that harnesses,
because its so unalike
the promises from before.
So maybe I don't trust promises,
but I trusted you.
Guess I shouldn't trust promises
even from someone I love.
Because now I can't trust either like I used to.
I really don't trust promises,
but I sure did trust you.
So, maybe I shouldn't trust promises,
or maybe I just shouldn't have trusted you.
