rolled out from under an alley garbage dumpster
her hair was dirty, her teeth reeked of tobacco
her clothes were unkempt and unfitted
there were holes in her shoes

drugs had turned her

That I am not responsible
For your inner well-being?
And, I have neither the power
Nor the will to make you happy,
And, I refuse to bear the brunt
Of your nasty, untamed temper,
But, may I say, with due respect
Your choosing to be a guttersnipe
Makes you ugly inside and out.
