Did it ever enter your mind That I am not responsible For your inner well-being? And, I have neither the power Nor the will to make you happy, And, I refuse to bear the brunt Of your nasty, untamed temper, But, may I say, with due respect Your choosing to be a guttersnipe Makes you ugly inside and out. written August 2, 2021

Caren, you were the source of this poem. Something you wrote about someone in one of your poems helped bring these thoughts to my mind. I thought about them and realized how true they are. No, I am not ever responsible for anyone's happiness but my own. Selfish? Possibly, but true.

I do, Gershon. I have to admit I had a certain women in mind when I wrote this. She was in my life for a while many, many years ago. But, it sort of sums up how i feel under similar circumstances with anyone. Thanks, Gershon for your comment.
