Puppet Play

Night falls and morning calls
Puppets gearing for a play
By the sway of their master's fingers
For how would you expect a puppet to sleep and think?

Any Boy

Any boy could do everlasting friendships
Gearing higher is just key
learning more not only prospering
Quite responsibly searching
Touching. Understanding.
     Vainly Wanting.
     Xenobiotic. Zen.

July

I sat in my tattered lawn chair, dirty, drenched in sweat...
My hand slipped off my old gun,
as I played Russian roulette...
She walked up to me with disgust in her eyes...
She was gearing up to say goodbye...
So she flew away into the humid sky;
into the wretched hell that is July...

Premium Member Dream Child Mode

Shh! Grandma cautioned her parents. She is in dream child mode.
The paisleys and oranges and polka dots are gearing up her dendrites.
Driving her REM to the world of magic, you need to let her be.
She’s an astral traveler, her Daddy said to Grandma. Nothing will wake her up.
Her dendrites were a rocket ship, blasting toward mystical imagination.

Mischief

My whirligigs are whirling
Since the wind has come to call
And my windsocks’ arms are twirling
Like they’re gearing for a brawl.

The temperature is dropping
Back to wintertime degrees
And the gusts will not be stopping
‘Til we all begin to freeze.

Mother Nature is enjoying
Making mischief these days; hence,
‘Tween the seasons we’ll be buoying
As she laughs at our expense.

Grail

In increments, reflection's waif
some sedentary lifting of restraint
is sameness from a will of dullness' taint
and compromised by feeling, urging's faint.

While courage in resistance pools intent
to greatness in truth's beauty, not event.
And gearing for concern, comes slow but meant
as when discernment's Grail is God's extent.

With thee, this cup of life, man calls content
is empty ~ less thy nearness fills this vent!

The Israeli Election

Another democracy
where the people get to speak
has just had an election
A bitter, bruising battle
with accusations of
corruption and cowardice
have filled the air
I live in the good old USA
Where we are also
gearing up for a bruising battle
Democracy is messy
but it is better than totalitarianism
Who are you supporting - friends out there in the darkness?
Who do you want to win in Israel ??
It matters
Yes, it matters!

My Dear Soul Mate

"We are the gorgeous artistic soul mates
trying to meet the heaven together:
By clutching and clinging on tightly,
Merged in each other's emotions
and feelings greatly,
Gearing toward attaining same
destination profoundly,
Doing purposeful interaction daily,
Boosting the heart beats and
hormone's skillfully..
to welcome the upcoming obstacles
in our future bravely."

Around the world
There are happenings
Events and Disturbances
Right here at home, Poets are gearing up on their journey of life experiences through their writing
Mindset in so many ways
Passing the days gone by
Emotions surging
Cries into shouts
Needing ears to listen and understand
Words to express
Poets being their own Commentators
As words turn
The mind explores
As highways accelerate
Words become dramatic
Active and aware

Premium Member Indian Summer

In a world
Of blues and greys
Streaked in swirls
Of sunlit shadows
Hints of gold
Tinge a brisk morning air
The cool stillness ruffled
Of a glassy lake
Not a sound it makes to wake
A sleepy drowsy nature
Gearing up to hibernate
All good things come to an end
Indian summer says her goodbyes
In her most colorful flamboyant style

Premium Member Thursday Again

That old familiar rumble once again has begun
Weekend pulling closer no matter how hard I push
Breathe in… breathe out; stomach burns like the sun
Mom and Dad gearing up for one more bruising run

Trusted closet stands ready for my weekend escape
Ears filled with cotton only muffle the hate
My spirit impaled on the thorns of their pain
Breathe in… breathe out; it’s Thursday again

Potential

My relatives in Florida
Are gearing for a fight.
A hurricane is on its way,
Expected by tonight.

The schools and airports have been shut;
The food store shelves are bare.
Anxiety is on the news
And in the very air.

This storm is known as Matthew,
Category 4 at least.
Soon both Florida and Georgia
Will be fodder for this beast.

There’s a lot of hype ‘round hurricanes
So fingers have been crossed
Hoping that en route, this monster storm
Might somehow just get lost.

Premium Member Boo Hoo Deja Vu

Our foxy former president
who rallied the rioters and
then safely went,
is hoping that we all forget,
the January 6th Capitol attack
and the good judgement that he lacked,
and how he didn't have poor Mike Pense's back.
Trump was the president, our supreme boss but
still takes no responsibility for those lives now lost.
He's gearing up for 2024, with his big pac monies
and hopes to score, holding rallies and stirring up his core,
with his same divisive message again once more..

My Whirligig

My whirligig requires wind
So when the day is calm,
It sits there quite forlornly
Like it's lacking in aplomb.

But when the gusts are squalling
And the trees are pirouetting,
My whirligig starts spinning
And, oh, what a show I'm getting!

It has concentric circles
So it twirls in two directions.
The faster that it goes, the more
It gains in my affections.

Today the wind's cavorting
As I watch in pure delight
While my whirligig goes whirling
Like it's gearing up for flight.
