Potential

My relatives in Florida
Are gearing for a fight.
A hurricane is on its way,
Expected by tonight.

The schools and airports have been shut;
The food store shelves are bare.
Anxiety is on the news
And in the very air.

This storm is known as Matthew,
Category 4 at least.
Soon both Florida and Georgia
Will be fodder for this beast.

There’s a lot of hype ‘round hurricanes
So fingers have been crossed
Hoping that en route, this monster storm
Might somehow just get lost.

Oh dear...I'm sorry to read of this, Ilene. Hope your relatives are OK. Must be very trying and frightening times for the people in that area. Good write.

I am far away from Florida and the storm Ilene, but Florida is our sister state having the same kind of tropical weather we have here in Hawaii. I watch the news and I pray for everyone there who must endure storms like Matthew. You have Immortalized Matthew's raging so well in your wonderful poem. 7 ; ) Hilo Hawaii is flooded from our last tropical storm.

I'm watching now. It looks like it will hit soon. I hope everyone gets out of harms way.
