Elated On Misty Hills
One damp misty dawn
I felt mysteriously drawn
Grey foggy-hill-prone,

In a rain-drained chill
I trudged to top of the hill
A bit drowsy still,

And a fusillade
Of clouds left me feel lifted,
Or more misty head!

Premium Member When Two Worlds Collide
Sitting still in a car,looking out
And listening within
A bright blue wintry sky punctuated
With land mines
Soft sunshine painting roofs
Amid the shattered ruins of Aleppo
Undressed trees coated with a silvery frost
And the pain of wounded children
A quiet peace broken
By the fusillade of firepower
Birds flutter
While shells burst overhead
Two worlds apart
Combined in one person
Listening and watching
Serenity and insanity
Incongruously together....

Never Again
The cacophony of headlines spills into homes.
Living rooms swell with images of death.
Horror hails against insulated windows...
A fusillade of destruction and trauma
Resonating in a global conscience.
Barrages of how's and why's rally...
...between...
brothers, sisters;
wives, husbands;
fathers, mothers;
sons, daughters.
All comsuming blitz of bewilderment.
Disbelief pierced by shrapnal of reality.
Darkness, without peace, smothers Europe
again...
