The Guitarist
He played on the guitar like a pizzicato
Who frequented one too many bars
Always demonstrating
A wonderful amount of restraint
Even during the main feature
At the local drive in

In the end
He came to realize
How much he loved pizza
And at the end of the day
Even if he couldn’t play
He could always eat it...

Saved By Poetry
As youth I frequented harlots
and took dark substances
Paid a price for both!
But I have now found the craft of poetry
to be most redeeming!
Peace will come to you out there in the darkness
Only if you are willing to share your innermost feelings
with that "nation within a nation"
The readers and writers of verse!...

The One Way Ticket
The chosen destination was not much frequented
-the man at the box office told me-
Except for people going in one direction.
I know.
But this ticket takes me where they will ask no questions.
where people in difficulties freely reside.
Anyway.
It´s my election.
Take me just there, because
I have no time nor strength to go farther....

Just a Thought
Frequented site, a place you love
Your home away from home
A godsend gift from up above
Where fellow artists roam
Inspiring you to share the gift
Most others don’t understand
Transforming paper, words adrift
Painting thoughts with pen in hand
As life goes on, one question though
If your heart suddenly should stop
With your silence , how would we know
Not to mistake death for writer’s block?...

Discipline Was a Good Medicine
The quite teenager went to school on foot,
never was late or tried to cheat on any test;
he ate fruits and veggies and stayed lean...
realizing that discipline was a good medicine.

Years went by and he became a physician;
many diseases he cured, even eye vision,
but his schoolmates frequented hotel rooms that smelled of booze...
they had unprotected sex and snorted cocaine: weren't they the losers?...

Premium Member A Ground-Nest Tea
several mourning doves
frequented the feeders
for small seeds

gently they ruffled feathers
around neck and head
as they slowly fed

full after twenty minutes
they went to ground
to clean each other

each took turns picking
seeds from the others
upper body feathers

and when a beak be seed full
the seed-picker then fed
them back to the other

this custom being
times natural
on-nest-tea

Brimstone Street
This street is frequented by people in distress,
because, any difficulty, annoyance, concern, difficulty, contract, time, inconvenience, or obstacle,
were resolved simply in a single walk

The access road is narrow and little traveled.
Except for the people crowding the entrance.

As for me, please
Take me there
 where they don't ask questions.
Because I don't even have time to go further
nor give more explanations....

Alcoholism
An opened fifth of hangovers rests beside his dried driveled arm (drug used by underachievers.) Out cold, head resting on forearm Unconscious in a dreamless world, a portal often frequented: an alcoholics netherworld and mind most disoriented. A parched throat forces arousal And miasmic exhalations rekindle once more pitiful repeated, inebriation. A morning swig begins his day and ends the same as yesterday.

Premium Member My Lovely Blossoms
In well set pots in a row Sweet flowers in clusters grow A sight, pleasing to behold As their petals they unfold A treat to adoring eyes A haunt frequented by bees Flashing colors in the sun, My heart and soul they have won. Flowers always make me glad What charm, to nature, they add Butterflies fly like flowers They dance in the day light hours They too greatly cheer my eyes They're flowers' lovely allies

Paris Acne / Signature of Sin
The acne vulgaris
Was rampant in Paris
From forehead to shin
It erupted all over the skin.

The blooming bachelor,
Living on wine and gin,
Frequented the whore,
And forgot his sin.

Three weeks later,
Developed an atypical ‘canker’
His family doctor
Diagnosed this as a genital chancre.

The Paris-acne is not ‘young man’s pinple’
Its cause is subtle and not so simple!
It’s a blunder of raging hormone,
The signature of a sin, long forgotten!!...

Premium Member You Have To Quiet Yourself and Listen
There is a magical clock tower portal
Housed in a mystical brick-laden church
Frequented by the most sensitive faeries and empaths
Few can find it; you have to be chosen and called.

Did you hear the wind whispering your name?
You have been called.
Instructions arrive on the wings of a grasshopper.
They are delicate and low. Sh! You must still yourself to hear.

Did you catch the instructions?
Too bad.
They only arrive one time.
You have to be ready....

Premium Member Empty House
I turned towards home and danced a little jig;
Receding in my view: a store of late
I’ve frequented with items small and big
to patient sit upon a shelf and wait.

I did the closing check, that one last sweep;
The walls, the closets, cabinets, all quite bare.
No history, no quilts, no cluttered shelves:
Empty rooms.
No quilts, no genealogy, no sewing, no cooking:
She’s not here.

It’s all at our house.

(on emptying my mother’s apartment after she passed away)...

Premium Member Weathered
Torn, tattered, tainted,
my Book of Shadows

Travels with me,
from cities to meadows

Drawings included;
demons and rainbows

Spells introduced,
between haystacks and cornrows

Too frequented to be dusty,
fingerprints galore

Weathered in delight,
my personal grimoire

Some may find it spooky,
but to me, I adore

Empty pages wait for me,
what do they have in store

Premium Member Vernal Pools
Just east of here, in shallow prairie pools
In secret, lives a fleeting little world
Late rains caught in impenetrable clay
Host a brilliant and vanishing bloom

Tiny flowers erupt, golden bursts of color
Fairy shrimp spring from dormant cells
Ephemeral life short lived but vibrant
For those that seek, a precious find

Frequented by birds and little mammals
These small habitats are quickly fading
Another picture of precious life interrupted
Perhaps soon found only in memories....
