even keel
beyond and below
beneath the cosmic tide
I awoke today to see
with the sun above
my shadow held tight
for lack of shade
as I crawl beneath
remnant chaparral
with this desert scruff
I scrub my bones...

A Risk
We took a risk; it worked out fine
But not without some stressing,
For everything in life requires
A fair amount of guessing.

Without such chances, we remain
Upon an even keel,
A little bored, perhaps, but hey,
Quite safe – that’s the appeal.

I’m usually risk-averse
But sometimes I get shaken
From my comfort zone and afterwards,
Feel glad it was forsaken.

Sometimes I Sit And Ponder
Sometimes I just sit and ponder,
what the true meaning of lifes all about;
Try and figure out my insucurites,
and the reason Im so full of doubt,
Maybe Im too hard on myself,
with the pressure I apply from within;
Maybe I want too much to fast,
here comes doubt creeping in again.
How can I find a balance in life,
where I float with an even keel?
Not worrying about the future,
or losing for life its zeal?

even keel
Getting along brings my hearts delight
I don’t want your anger to ignite
I know I’m no shining knight
I don’t want us to fight
I know I’m not as lofty as a kite
As night is blue and day is white
I don’t want to always be right
I want your love for me to ignite
A kind look makes me high as a kite
I like to hear your insights
For us to be civil would be alright
Being with you is my hearts delight

touch and go
there is no more, nor is there less
it's like Alice through the looking glass
I circumvented one of the rules
now off the table what left you unglued

back to the banter, the touch and go
an even keel back to what we know
teasing thoughts and passion screams
under the moon when you fall asleep

the monsoons pass and there's thunderless sky
moving from summer into cold winter nights
you get closer as you follow your dream
brushing past the valley with old memories

Light Bulbs
Light Bulbs

Love is like a light bulb,
You can turn it off and on.
But if it burns to bright,
It won’t last too long.

Relationships take commitment,
Cause rough times are sure to come.
Realize nothing is perfect,
What’s wrong can be undone.
Put thought into your decisions,
Run the race, not a sprint
Listen to what they are telling you,
Take actions to their hints.

Lights that burn too hot,
Are quick to fade away.
Keep your love on an even keel,
To see another day.
