A mountain tarn,
a mirror blackly gleaming.
I slide down some shale
to peer in. As I stare
there's a tingling apprehension
of being too close to an edge
where sky, land, and reason
drop away.
I can't quite say what I expected to see,
not the bottom of a mountain,
a man's visage maybe,
perhaps some deep mystery?
What I saw buried its reflection
into the back of my mind
where it is still surfacing.

Sparrow, why did you throw away your egg?
Now you beg,
but I know that
you’re marrying the Blackbird

Make another egg
for the Blackbird
(chase an egg, make it drop away
to the black day)

enveloped by darkness, from a surge of sadness
my emotions drop away to this darker realm
where I find a swirling madness of gloom
and the depth of somber is found
I become a broken twisted world
where my mind retreats
and flees from life's shattered shards
whose sharp edges cut the tendrils of illusion
leaving nothing but silence
that holds me a captive, numb to this space
so dark, so quiet
where I begin to understand
what foreboding feels like

Holds us in tender embrace
Being God’s energy transmission
Felt within as rapturous bliss ignition
That all ego veils of ignorance drop away
And attention internalised, we cease to sway
What happens then is this: transfixed in bliss
Ego identity recedes; we see truth as it is
Our true self shines as God’s living light
Reinforced by bliss by day and night
That we assimilate it within form
As the epicentre of this storm
