Grizzly and Drizzly
Grizzly and Drizzly

Hair is getting grizzly
Weather did become drizzly
Country 'tis of Thee.

Drizzly Days
Drizzly days
Go by in a haze

Gentle rain
Waters the grain

Tiny drops get right in
Soaking you to the skin

Grey skies
Soft on my eyes

Soothing feel
Almost unreal...

I Miss You
Driving on the way home
Road varnished from heavy rain and
sparkling as gemstones
from where the streetlights flicker.
Extra careful in this weather
Long slow journey.
Dark drizzly night
Misty and cold
I do believe-
I miss you home....

Fall
Calls to
Merry heart.
Drizzly, snowflakes,
Nature's spice palette;
First alights on the eye.
Neath spun amorous setting,
Embers colors grace November,
Bound, with families sound of gladness.

Sometimes, I step Into the Sky.
Ancestors as footprints,
and drizzly ions my scented chai.

I stand with head-top near enough
to Earth that I
forget Sky
with all of my heart
and take my part
in the Grand Plan(less)

a-swirl, a-new

forgetting that I
can now remember
Who I am.
Who am I?
and

Why....

Sydney
Lying on a beach in Sydney,
scorched and sore in the dry heat,
the sand burns my toes.

I wander back to drizzly days in Leitrim,
when I paddled in my wellingtons
in puddles on the farm where I grew up.

Here rain seldom falls,
and only in quick downpours,
I long for soft days and misty rain
to moisten my face....

Heathrow, In Transit
The warmth of Nairobi in January is gone now.
Here it's cold and drizzly, a savannah
of tarmac and metal jumbos before me.
My natural rhythms have given way
to this soaring erratic chase of the sun.
But I return to warmth—the desert heat
of southern Arizona, and the ardent glow
of my heart when I hold you in my arms....

Where Did You Come From
Upon the asphalt sidewalk he lay
this lonesome drizzly evening
knotted fingers outstretched imploring
for that extra bit of coin
the deep crevices in his face
belying his true age
black beseeching eyes
mirroring darkness and despair
it was not hard to see his plight
what brought him here I wondered
this bitter October night...

Event-ually
Florida birds spark snowstorms,
the electric energy
of spinning tops turns the world.

Magnets race around a planet
just to come together.

A drizzly mist forms lakes,
digs sink holes, and in time,
floods towns.

Small events leap on the back
of climatic changes,

they ride those wild horses,
until someone somewhere

builds a barn....

The night draws down steel clouds and cold drizzly rain
whilst under roof soothing slumber yet remain.

I walk to darken gray rooms of my tomb
in bleakness and despair, malignant womb.

Kneeling in acceptance with mournful din
my penance will never end for my sin.

The outside evolves a prolonged unrest;
while I ebb, lost upon my hollow breast.

December came dancing along
Implying clouds to play their pouring songs
Drenching land with affectionate warmth
Wrapping mountains in snow-white shawls
Enhancing streams with drizzly charms
Ornamenting rocks with soft white tops
Draping valleys with frills of delicate fogs
Aiding awaiting lake with new aquatic stock
Lifting spirits to prepare for Christmas Rock...

On a dreadful drizzly evening
Traffic light turns yellow to red
No time for weaving, dreaming
You whirl in your car instead
Till you see a man begging for bread.

You call him a slob on the street
As he looks fitful, but fit as can be
Not taken by his trick or treat
You tap your pedal aiming to flee
Till you look in the mirror, and let it be.

The Painter As a Healer
Twilight hugs the ivory hue of a street-lamp;
gold mocha eyes watch the drizzly

evening through a dusty window.
Autumn leaves in the misty wind are a sleepy flutter

as the smooth cloudy sky blushes a deep pink;
the sunlight colored house lights are turned

on, the shade is pulled; her hazel eyes
become Atheia and Kamo'oalewa- Earth

moons- and a brown- grey dove in repose
gently blends into the descending night....

Monday Morning, a Loop Sonnet
Monday morning slowly waking
Waking to a drizzly rain
Rain that comes down ever whispering
Whispering, time to wake again!

Again my mind’s ever churning
Churning with thoughts of the day
Day of poetry and yearning
Yearning for what I must say.

Say in words what I am feeling
Feeling in this early morn
Morn with my words ever forming
Forming… a new format born!

Born by chance I can’t deny
Deny ‘tis useless, I must try!...

Life
Life is like a rainy day, drizzly and sad
with pain and sorrow weighing you down
every day, new challenges presented
difficulties always present
ever-changing days go by

But if life is like a rainy day,
It's a rainy day with the sun shining through
the days that children call "rainbow weather"
because no matter how hard the problems seem,
Bright sunshine can make any life seem better.
