Premium Member Half His Lunch

If You have only a hundred dollars
Doubling that isn't so much.
But if you give it to a Broker
You just bought half his lunch.

Life

LIFE

The road of life twists and coils
Occasionally doubling back on itself
Threaded through convoluted
Tangles of happiness and pain

iridescent rainbow clouds you simply defy description
reflected in the sea as easily as I am reflected in my mirror
doubling the joy of the day; taking my breath away

Close Hauled

Damn the nor’easter
hold the wheel steady
Waves from the Kraken
over the bow
Darkness ahead
charts plot the demon
Into the fury
—doubling down

Holiday Mealtimes

Siblant esses slyly sneaking
doubling your portion size
turning singular to plural
as you order beer and pies
so don't become at every meal
fat, like a snake that ate a wagon wheel

Change Upon Us

The Piscean Age, at it's close,
Will overlapp, doubling the frequency,
..... as an Octave interval.
When this happens, a new Keynote is struck,
Then the beginning of a new World Age.

Half-Off

Only buy something
That’s sold at half-price
If you like it enough
To be paying that twice.

If that’s not the case
Then you’re wasting your cash
By doubling up
On a half-as-good stash.

Doubling Cape Horn

Doubling Cape Horn is live or die.
Waves as high as thirty meters
Mean as a Zulu’s assegai
Well known down there as hell greeters
We be seamen every last one
For us passage is good as done

Premium Member Devil Get Off My Back

Lately the devil has me in his despicable sights,
Things go well, then he sends an unpleasant plight.
So I’m doubling my prayers to throw him off track,
And let God be the one to get him off my back.

Premium Member Air-Conditioned Flags

Betsy Ross sewed the US flag with ease
Fellow countrymen were more or less pleased

         A Scotsman stole her design
His wife sewed something so fine

Flags doubling as kilts ~ Waving in the breeze

Premium Member World of Trouble

I’ve got the weight
Of the world of trouble
Doubling onto me
And taking over my conscience
I feel the trouble
And it hurts beyond
What I have in the world
It’s weighing on me
And the trouble is horrible
Completely surreal
Seemingly unreal
But very very true
Trouble is in my world

Premium Member Shadow Lovers

Could it be love when shadows overlap
Their beings blending, doubling to dark
Embracing tiled or terra cotta floor
Sliding silently as silhouettes of shame
Clinging to the still forbidden touch
Relishing the fevered heat of light
Cast upon this desperate aching need
To meld - a two so lonely - into one

David Della

(Acrostic Haiku)

David's day's dine, drum
Atmosphere's admiration-
Visual's vastly view.

Indoor influence ink...
Doubling diet, desserts do date;
Duty draws design

Expanding earthly
Long life lasting lord's luxuries-
Let lungs love living.

Ace age apportioned,
Actualizing accolades
And act attributes.

Metamorphosis Part 2

I have two eyes,
But I am blind.
My two ears I use,
Doubling the silence.

I use big words,
To forget the small ones.
Remembering tiny detail,
To avoid the vagueness.

I create my confliction,
Since peace is so boring.
I believe it is so,
I believe it is not.

(I hear nothing)-
It is time again.
(I see nothing)-
Time to pretend.

Naked

Over the gleaming ice she skates,
Dressed in skates----that's all.
Leaning on back, so nice she skates,
Smooth and straight, can't fall.

Mirrored with sky she glides on by,
Doubling in naked blue;
Free in the flesh she glides on by,
Free in spirit, too.

Into the freezing air she glows,
Wearing the air, naught else.
Boldly alive in cold that grows
A flaming love of self.

Stress

Myself I am troubling
The stress level is doubling
Gastric juices are bubbling
My pancreas is rumbling

Life is turning
The stomach is churning
Forehead is burning
The inner life is yearning

Resources are shrinking
Friendships are stinking
Is life yet linking
Or is everything just sinking

Decisions are made
Plans have been laid
I think I am afraid
Life's been frayed

A Tenured Friend Written: by Tom Wright December 2014 This week we summoned To our home, a tenured friend, Being shackled to need, Her faith had given her hope That in some heart, God, Would plant a seed, Being quite unaware That God, our hearts, of late Was troubling, Forthcoming temporary help, Was counted by us, as seeing Our blessings doubling,

Premium Member Fire

Flames swallow oxygen,
duplicitous in their deeds,
circumventing steel barriers—
steel barriers doubling over.

Ashen soot cakes the walls;
walls crumble, interlacing with soot.
Pyres of fire lick the night sky;
crimson smoke suffuses the air.

Breathing in microparticles,
microparticles sticking
to fibrous membranes—
breathing collapses.

Lit match—ignition,
cinders glow.

Osprey

OSPREY

On skies, you glared predator-proud talons and beak curved so
sharp as narrow-vision> focusing on doubling plenty to millions...

Prey abounded, you soared, till rivers faded to an unseen creep
richly sipping of bounties seeping DDT, while in your high tower
eagles hawked tainted by death unaccounted, until eggs fragile
yielded cracks in their oval, speed-plummeting to cries of: why…?

A Flock Is Encircling an Esophageal White Sky

Above a beached bleached paperback, "The Doors of Perception",
a pent-up penchant for greed is flung wide open:

The esophagus of a seagull sky grows narrow
until one seagull stomachs trash with zero
tolerance for sharing. Squeaky double doors apprise
descending gulls this bird has wings doubling in size.

Squishy moist sand, footprint-ridged into pouty lips,
chased-away seagulls waddle toward crushed crumbs.
Captains trudge farther ashore or return to ships.
