I’ve read about it once or twice,
And so my grasp, I clearly feel,
Of how it works is quite precise.

When they gave the diagnosis, I was a little dumbstruck.
I thought I was fine, but I had really run out of luck.
They took me in, they gave me clothes.
They gave me a slumber, but then forced me to rose.
In panic, in love, and all in between.
Stricken, I was, in the head as I tried to flee the scene.
They caught me to my horror, lost and in shock.
I’d rather be running through the streets without socks!
Oh, the pain of getting a thumb struck
Is not overshadowed by feeling dumbstruck
When a car door is slammed on a finger
There is no logical reason to linger
Taking a pain pill as soon as possible
In this case is perfectly permissible
Soaking in ice is always helpful, too
But I don’t know what else to do!

No one will say it
In exactly the same way
No one actually
Ever really did
Explain it
Either
Did they
They never do
When they are trying
To sell you something
Otherwise you probably might
Just not have choose to buy it
In the first place then
Would you
Come to think of it
Then everything falls to pieces
Once you factor in and throw we

My circular corner garden
Is a somewhat crowded scene.
With hostas all around the edge
And day lilies in between.
But within the flowery circle
The grass is growing tall.
I’ve tried, but there’s no way
I can weed it out at all.
One day while on my porch
I glanced out at the flowers
And noticed feathery maidens
All dancing in the bowers
Dumbstruck, it just came to me!
Those uninvited lasses
Aren’t ugly weeds at all.
They’re ornamental grasses!
I mowed my lawn in my red Jimmy Choos
Now there’s dog poop on my new shoes
My lazy neighbor's got an untrained pup
It poops on MY lawn - they don’t clean it up!
The lawn’s dotted with piles of dog muck
I’m gobsmacked in fact I’m dumbstruck
So I’ve ordered them a pooper scooper
I hope they’ll use it on their pesky pooper
Fiction poem - but dog mess is a pet hate of mine!
