It is with much sadness that after 10 fun
and enjoyable years I will be curtailing my participation
on Poetry Soup! It has become a way of life with me
but I find at 87 years of age my creativity is suffering
I will still be popping in now and then!

When the Moon moves out of sight slow 
it stages a nightmarish dream; 
Your pulse jumps inside your bloodstream 
with an irrational tempo;
Smiling like a jester although 
you can hear every silent scream
when the Moon moves;
Closing your eyes is a deathblow 
suffocated by the extreme;
With a blood curtailing moonbeam 
can you truly trust your shadow 
when the Moon moves?...

There's a field nearby with words written in stone
Ash set in then blew away; like fallen snow
Planes came in dropping bombs till all atone
Following, guns drawn; history in the know
It could have been crops planted matured and grown
Humans plan of repetition fate would show
War has brought no solution or curtailing
Shining only a spotlight on our failing

It sits beside me
I dare not question him
Or blackness inside
His monk style robes
Covering head and the
Pitchest black I’d ever seen
Seems to be covered by
Small instances of light as
If he wore the universe as skin
I try not to notice
The sickle between us
Its blade shining white
In the moonlight
I don’t want the mystery of
How many died there so
I focus on completing the poem…

Out of the shadows
after seeing the light
finally curtailing
a cold seemingly endless night
putting forth effort to recover
with a fervent, insistent might
without prior direction
longsuffering weakened the fight
though now rising from the depths
to reach stable heights
the road ahead has clarity
with awareness and true sight
envisioning hope
to enhance the plight
the path to go forth
perpetually steers to the right
with a renewed mindset of reality
even dark clouds seem bright....
