forcing us to flinch
and so we smile and look
as the universe so conspires
to transform each node as light
within our decaying organic form

had coffee with a colleague
he was young and eager
wanted to play Russian roulette
because his resources were meagre
the universe conspires with us
granting us whatever we wish
but if fear and doubt makes us blink
boons granted are gone in a swish

that is all I can afford
when you are poor
life conspires
to keep you there
“pull up your boot straps”
What boots?
there is a price on every thing
except faith, that’s free
lots of it floatin’ around
