Premium Member Steven Rogers - Aka Captain American
As a comic book artist, his look was quite frail until Rogers then took a powerful serum. Bad fellows now fear him. He fights crime now. No writing a book! May 31, 2022 for Robert James Liguori's Captain America Poetry Contest

Comic Book Tripper
You enjoy the bright colors
and brillancy of
  fantastic comic books
   Kirby, Jusko, Steranko
    and the master Stan Lee
After entering the "Age of Super Heros"
     You are enlightened
but remember
    Archie is still published
(thank G-D for that)...

Premium Member Poetry, a Comic Book

There lived a poet, thought she was good.
But got the point- leave our neighborhood!
You do see, truth was her thing.
Many found it dull, not bling ?
Nor the censored earth, on a comedy fling?

Comic Book Tripper
Dazzled by Superman,
Batman
           and the Human Torch
She walked the streets
    of the city
and was left behind
      by time
She saw the gray urban environment
      and believed that
superheroes should spring
    up
  from behind every door
No Archie here
       just a bleak
landscape
      until riotous colors
explode - leaving behind a fistfull of memories...

Comic Book Discussion
Talked with an old friend
about the new "Flash"TV show
   and we both realized that
the "Arrow" on TV is supposed
to be "Green Arrow"
He is in his 40's I
think
   I am 59 - almost 60 and
still discussing comic books!
   The creator of Superman
 were Jews
So am I!
Comic books are a form of literature ,friends
Once I created a character named
           "Judo King!...

Comic Book Advocate
Used to thrill
to the Fantastic Four, X - Men
Sometimes ever Charlton or Classics illustrated
Dare I mention to my educated friends
that I still read comic books?
or even to anyone
    that I enjoy
Archie - with hamburger eating Jughead
 the poor and rich girls
      Betty and Veronica ?
I advise you to take a
    comic book trip
They are not just for children...

Premium Member Princess Diana of Themyscira
Some know her as Princess Diana of Themyscira
She jumped onto comic book pages in 1942
Thus, she is eighty years old, but always drawn as much younger
Super powerful, taking on villains in a fashionable way

We recognize those legs and the high red boots
She has a magic lasso that holds the bad guys in place
On November 7th, 1975 she became a three-dimensional hero
You might know her as Wonder Woman...

Fragrant flower, Jasmine infused,

the evening breathes comic book laughter,

colors white and green and yellow.

Our heroes, our saviors in bold of

twilight blue and mud red ocher.

Perfume fingers stretch forth on evening breeze

searching for that champion

only to find, beneath primary hues,

a miriad of diffuse pastel hides

beneath balloon exclamations,

our vain attempt to save us from ourselves.

Wizard
Wizard…

An emotionless stare being framed by the air
Pondering life all around him
In the lights pale glow, he thinks that he knows
The secrets of all who have found him
But what have they found?
In his grasp will they drown?

He won’t get anywhere with all of his comic book fascinations
Twisted plots for twisted minds
And simple incantations
A wishing wizard gazing
Glazed eyes reflecting
Whatever it is the wizard wants to see
And he’s looking…...

Keeper
I drink my morning latte
you're drinking chocolate milk
I'm eating a french pastry
you're eating, I don't know what
I'm reading the New York Times
you're reading a comic book
I clear the morning table
while you stretch and yawn

let's go back to bed
you say with one of those looks
I read you loud and clear
and follow you from the room
it's this part of our love
where everything is right
you're a keeper baby
and I am here for good...

The Costumed Dream
Seems like I'm falling
in love
     with Bat-Girl
Don't ask me how this happened
       Women in costumes
appeal to me
Not long ago I hugged a woman
in a cat costume
    Comic book dreams
coming through once more
  Green Lantern, Magneto and
       the reat
are competing with me
for the love of
  a costumed woman
I think that "love steeers the star"
  Fantasy women are sometimes
easier to deal with than real ones...

Empowerment
I used to think
that comic book hero's
were better than me
but then I realised
they just punish crime
surely it's better
to teach the man success
I used to think
that strenght
could make the man
but surely it's better
to love
you do not need
to be the muscle clown
it's love that make's
a better
world turn round
not the love that's
satisfied by sin
but love that satisfied
by what you gave.
The love that teaches people
how to win....

Comic Book
Fractured little comic book
cracked along the spine.
Must and mold exhaust you.
Dullness shows the time.

Turn a page for reading
fuzzy art in blocks.
Squares with tiny bubbles
or just a place to talk.

Staples down the middle.
Two through every fold.
Half the book is over
and several stories told.

Flipped upon your back
where ads take all the space.
Toys for boys and girls
and all the dreams we'll chase.

Fractured little comic book.
Thank you for your grace....

Last Super Hero Standing
What comic books did you read as a kid?
Did you thrill to Wonder Woman, the Human Torch
or did you watch Archie Andrews as Betty and Veronica competed for
his love?
Perhaps you travelled with Namor to Atlantis
So brightly colored - they attract millions
of youth
Yes, and some of us in late middle age still
read comic books at times
  The other day
I saw a man in his seventies
lost in a comic book fantasy
on a public bus
Nuff said!...

Premium Member Hellspawn
Spawny, Spawny, he’s our man!
Bought the farm without the land,
fury-fueled, he took his stand.
Life had not gone as he planned.

Evil came to him unjust.
Sent to Hell in sudden thrust.
Return to Wanda, he must
become foul Hellspawn or bust.

Right the wrong unfairly dealt,
he sought evil where it dwelt.
Moral rightness is his belt,
doing good is how he felt.

Stopping evil now his quest.
Evil men he does detest.
Justice comes at his behest,
anti-hero full of zest....

The Comic Book
The comic book in front page cover.
Glossy for it's wonder.
All interest in it's characters
of glory and their thunder.

A comic book to split apart
in seam for pair of staples.
The paper's pulp been harvested
from several standing Maples.

An ink in print to bolded text
you'd sniff for fresher air.
The meaning of a delicate page
you flip through for it's ware.

A story told to light the senses
in visions from another.
A book so thin it simplifies;
there is no any other....
