Proximity
it took so much for me
to stop myself-
such close proximity,
my need dangled in
the air, standing hair
on end. you are
an imposing threat,
sent to deliver flesh
from bone, destroy all
in your wake. i will take
my chances, dance
around your taste buds,
tickle your chin with
dirty nails....

My inspiration for this poem is the huge spider I just saw outside on my garage door while I was out with my dog tonight. I was in close proximity of what I believe is a wolf spider. No, I am not an arachnid fan....

Homeless
Homeless In close proximity of the campfire, our mind as pallid as the grey of winter’s snow laden sky, we sit huddled: trying to erase the shivers of winters last frenzied blast, contemplating nothing more than the heat and the dance of the flames as they lick frozen fingers no longer wearing iced mittens. LIVING HOSTS

rustic lift of mountains beyond the field
                 of wild red poppies, blackbird
                      wings like a parasol

close proximity to the living hosts
      gloriously splattered with
muse’s brush and faeries

Too Near To See
Mother thought me gone.
She wrote cryptic notes
left them in the mailbox unaddressed.

Occasionally she thought me dead
or travelling in a dangerous land
being held hostage by hostile tribesmen.

Eventually she gave up
yet I was always near
laying on my bed next to her room.

She never did discover my vicinity,
my close proximity.

When she died
- I travelled....

Her Smile Makes Me Smile
Whenever I feel sad
And life’s troubles wear me down
I just look upon her face
And no longer wear a frown.

Whenever the cold rain
Pours and saturates the ground
It’s then that I sense sunshine
Each time that she’s around.

Her smile makes me smile,
And I feel so pleased to be
In the same room as her,
In her close proximity.

Her smile makes me smile
At people that pass me by;
There’s a spring in my step
And a twinkle in my eye....

Leaving the Close Proximity
i stand as a human
with limbs
roots
offshoots
and plenty of chlorophyll
blood and protein
know what i mean?
i live the star life
not the rock star life
i live on a rock
one rock helps
keep balance from another
rock
... the moon, the earth
the moon is leaving like a tree
she can't take the earth's b.s. anymore
the party has been fun and ash
for her
but
now
she needs her space (perpetual)
and the 45 tilt will ebb
will you and i
see it?
no,
but my roots will...

First Sight
What was it?
Was it the halo of curls
Caught in the light from the sun
The flick quick back look of alarm
The unregistered color of inquisitive eyes
The open stare share
of do I know you
A nano before
 defenses slam into place
Headlight hesitation
Freeze to instant disappearance
Paw withheld at first brush of hair
Flash bared teeth
And the instant knowing
Of power to hurt
Followed or held
By the want to protect
The close proximity of
A perfect stranger
in a mind's eye...
