Gerty Cori
Your upbringing, roots, traditions
did not prevent you
from discovering the truth.

Self-studying woman
with rapid progress,
encouragement to scientists.

You treated soul as science
making discoveries,
until you converted to Catholicism....

Marcel Dassault
Not because of the laicism
you changed your name
and religion, converting
to Roman Catholicism.

Not because of politics
or pure stoicism,
but conviction of your mind,
concerning the wholeness

of your being.
Aviation was important
not just for the senses,
but conscious transcendence....

My poetry starts with nicotine.
After awhile I mixed in alcohol.
     Catholicism is a main ingredient.
Puberty is a wicked mix of Absinthe.
Next I add a father broken from war.
My mom could be friend or betrayer.
I had to maintain a delicate balance
between being real or just amusing.
Amusing is easy. Real is impossible....

Mortimer Adler
Like emperor Constantine
You were a convert
to Catholicism on the deathbed.
Fascinated by Thomas Acquinas

and your other heroes:
Etienne Gilson, Jacqes Maritain,
Martin D’Arcy.
You considered yourself a pagan

and wrote a book,
“How to Think About God”,
as a guide for others.
You demonstrate God as the exnihilator

and you were not involved
with mixtures of truth and error –
particularly the moral
philosophy of Kant....

Yours was the crown of the Synagogue
after you converted to Catholicism
for living Christianity
is the fulfillment of the promise.

Christianity presupposes the Synagogue
and a vision of Jesus you had
opened your mind and your heart.
Yours was the wisdom and smartness

as you became the doctorate professor of philosophy -
Chief rabbi, for you Synagogue,
which was the promise
and Christianity cannot exist without the other....

Luke Kirby
He was of John the Baptist
and JHS age,
when he was executed
as they were for faith.

He was Protestant,
before converting to Catholicism,
charged with treason
against the Queen.

Sacraments for him were as in the book,
“The Defense of Seven Sacraments”
by king Henry the VIII,
when king was the defender of faith.

Of opposite ways they went:
the king and Kirby.
True defender of faith,
priest Kirby or the Monarch King?...

Gabriel Marcel
You were the mystery of Being:
son of agnostic, himself atheist
and you became creative fidelity
in your philosophy of existence.

Later converted to Catholicism,
you were advancing ethical axioms
having consciousness
that you can materialize or annihilate values.

In your immanent introspection you observed
that the man is a derived being tending to
the primary being of the Absolute
and you became notable Christian existentialist....

Ralph Sherwin
He was the convert
to Roman Catholicism.
Government spies
denounced him quickly.

Upon arrest he was charged
with treasonable conspiracy,
because he was a catholic priest.
In prison he thought fellow inmates,

“there is no reason
why we should fear
much as to a victorious result,
for JHS has conquered the World”.

He was proud to testify about the truth,
suffered and gave life for Christ,
His last words before execution
were: “Jesus, be to me my Saviour”....

Alexander Briant
He was raised Protestant –
later, upon studies,
he converted to Catholicism
and became a Jesuit

as is current pope Francis.
He labored with zeal
after ordination,
proclaiming true religion to all Nations.

With six other priests he was arraigned
on the charge of high treason
and condemned to death by an English court.
He was subjected to inhuman tortures and executed.

In prison, he converted
many fellow prisoners,
imprinting the cross of Christ
on their minds....
