Tear stained flowers left on mother and daughter's graves
*In memory of Bonnie Faye Todd and
Crystal Faye Todd
Conway, South Carolina
Tides enfold first light,
Golden hues seep through briny mist,
Daybreak murmurs rest,
Ebb and flow dance quietly,
Dawn's tender overture sung.
The weather in Carolina is bipolar
Freezing frigid morn eve red solar
Hardly ever sure how I want to dress
Layers work here hope for the best
Carolina
clay soil
red with iron
fired
kilned hot
red clay bricks
a hawk
soaring through
lotus blue sky
a vulture
soaring higher
not a sound
Form:
A Carolina Wren
jabs and weaves
hopping in and out
of a ring of sunlight,
it has pugnacity,
but the cat creeping near
does not care.
Four moons rise in December,
Cold, hard, white,
Small, red, warm,
Early morning after long night,
Far away Korea bleeds,
Betty's brown eyes hating Nick's blue.
Form:
It's another North Carolina morning,
Just before I see the sun rise.
To lighter blue the sky is turning,
And nature wakes opening her eyes.

A Carolina Wren
bobs and weaves
inside a ring of sunlight.
It is shadow boxing,
but there are no shadows
yet it still jabs and moves.
A boxer
fights the shadow of himself.
I caught a showy springtime scene
This morning bright in warming sun:
A Carolina Chickadee
An energetic orbit flapped
Then perched a tiny moment’s rest
Amid a dogwood’s snowy blooms.
Horse Loved Leaping High
Horse on his legs had leaped high,
Up into cool and crisp Carolina sky;
Fine maine flowing,
While also glowing;
Soft clouds which God would supply.

There are very pretty girls in North Carolina,
But they’re not all named Caroline, or Charlotte
Beware of confusion, a summer at the beach,
Watch out for temptation, strawberry ice creams.

North Carolina
A young woman of North Carolina,
Danced on tables at a down-town diner.
Serving Chilli-dogs and fries,
To leering men she despise,
This Lady deserves something much finer.
Can’t stop thinking
About you or your
Red velvet hair. Your smile
Opens up my
Locked cage containing my broken heart.
Inside and out I
Need you and your gorgeous
Amazing smile in my life.
A sweet Chow Chow called Charleston Dinah
Was court-ordered to go back to China
Told: Leave the U.S.
You made this covid mess!
She arfed: You nut I’m from North Carolina!

For Our Father Farrell
Always never sure where I should begin,
Or else if it really had been a terrible sin,
And my praying,
Continue saying;
Carolina Power Ball would like to win.

God With His Energy
Clear sky Carolina Blue as usual has been,
And our lives we let God's love into again;
New day did arrive;
He let us survive,
God with His energy saved us from each sin.

A young North Carolina preacher named Billy Graham
Was filled with God's Words, and knew how to say 'em
All across the nation, many people came to salvation
Now heaven will be home to more than a few; how about you
Stormy Delight.
Carolina blue with gushy waves upskill the tower for bigger challenges.
What I see.

Left Carolina with an Angina
Had broken our hearts when we left Carolina;
Not only that what we all had was an angina;
Arteries hardened,
When not pardoned;
Is hereditarily declared in genes in our saliva.
