Spreading Joy

Trying to branch out on here --
exploring verse of many a poet

to give them joy in being read,
that's how it goes, I know it! :)

"no Second Guesses"

My arms branch out wide

                     to reach over regrets

                                         and reservations...

Tree

Life is like a tree
we branch out in all directions
but it's the branch we hang on
that makes us sway or fall...

Picked a clover instead of
Looking for Unique

Concrete Roots

I feel like a tree
That has grown into a wall
Unable to branch out
Pushing against blocks
Stacked up

I’m bound in stone
With heavy roots
So we both can exist
And not have to fall

Be a Tree

Stand Tall be proud
Reach for the sky
Branch out into the world
Stay grounded
Remember your roots
Drink plenty of water
Be confident
Never stop growing
Bend before your break
Enjoy the view

Dice

Where hearts are broken and unpleasant words spoken. This is the land of
disease where emotions branch out like trees. Caught up in emotions bringing
out strong devotions. Accepting the price when playing love with dice. Never any
cure for love was once pure. In the end love will betray you as a friend.

It's Been Awhile

It's been a while
since I could look at you
forgive you for all you've done
it's been a while
that I could forgive myself for loving you
and move on
it's been a while
since I could stand alone
without asking for help
make a new name for myself
and branch out again
it's been a while
since I was me again

The Tree of Poetry

As you count the rings of your tree of poetry
It will tell you that age of this tree
The bark will cover what you have within
Your limbs will branch out to others
And show them what you have within
They will touch each other and bring harmony
Your leaves will be green and others will envy your color
In the fall your leaves will fall to be gathered
To be burned into other souls

If

***
If you should go,
And I should stay,
And the sun will set,
And the flowers will wither,
And the birds will fly home,
And the summer will end,
And the leaves will fall,
And will feed the earth,
And will seed new growth,
And will branch out greens,
And will host birds,
And beauty will bloom,
I will hold the sun
Deep within my breast all night long.

Appeal To a Little Cloud

Fluffy,puffy little cloud
I know that you are allowed
To give a little rain to me
So I can grow into a great, big tree.

I would like to stretch up high,
Maybe even touch the sky,
Spread my limbs and branch out
So all my leaves can dance about.

But if you don't give me some rain
I know my roots will feel the strain,
Please don't be afraid to cry
And let teardrops fall from the sky.

A Single Path

Paths branch out
From the main road
Sitting, stalling
Then choosing

All the roads I've traveled
Lead me back
Guide me to
A single path

So I walk
Step by step
Footprints the only things
That follow

No idea
What lays ahead
Only knowing
What lays behind

No fear
All anger left
At the crossroads
Sitting beside my regrets

Walking this path
A single path
My path of pebbles and sand
Feels to right to be wrong

Fall In the Snow

FALL IN THE SNOW

Navigating deserted street , timorously,
Seems ok underfoot, so branch out a little.
No ice, just hard-packed snow.
Sidewalk looks white, innocent, safe.

Left foot treachery, collapse to port side
Like a tree felled at random
Or a ship torpedoed.
Lie still, winded and unsure of breakages

Try to catch breath.
Test leg, - ok. Lone passer-by offers hand
Pulls me to the surface.
Rooted again, step gingerly out once more.

Here and Now

They'll say that I have lived my life
only when I'm dead.
That everything I lived between
was terminal instead.

A world of passing others
too familiar with ourselves.
Not seeing their perspective
or conceiving of themselves.

A simple fact to be addressed
improving of yourselves.
By simple act of looking out
and learning for ourselves.

By knowing others for the time
we branch out into more.
Where here and now becomes a place
that we might leap and soar.
