45 years vanished
  my heart yet beats
for the tiny farming village
  my purest, unsullied love

the people mostly gone
  who helped me find myself
their still-life photos sit upright
  on tear-stained worn bookshelves...

BOOKS

B rowsing must be the best thing you can do in public places
O n and on the bookshelves go –from blessings to disgraces
O ther hobbies need some gear and often make you run--
K ids go crazy making noise—how can this place be fun?
Steadfast friends-- the books --so silent-- wait til I am done...

Dust on bookshelves
tells of life lived, stillness
Spanish bluebells tolls

Among old olive trees
flowers as yellow as butter
distance is hurtful.

A framed photo
mother hangs on a wall
wordless she speaks.

A white coffin
her face was in harmony
beautiful the peace....

Nicely Treasured
jubilant echoes
stirring up the years
within the warmth
inside the walls
a nice thing they
protectively keep

on bookshelves
by the study lamp
paperweight conch
framed snapshots
a nice thing they
protectively keep

like rare pearls
lovely, exotic
memories glint
shale stone flint
a nice thing they
protectively keep...

Until Darkness
The Genie-us crawled silently out of the old clock,
and climbed up the bookshelves at night

The Genie-us then read from the pages forbidden,
feeling shame with a lusty delight

The Genie-us returned as the sun came up,
crawling inside the tall clock in the hall

The old pendulum again swinging, the chimes reset
—until darkness anew comes to call

(Dreamsleep: April, 2020)...

When Cyber Bullies Lie, God Starts To Cry
The cyber bully can't see, that
only god can judge me.
When I try to go to my parents for help,
they know the anger, but they don't know the pain that is hurting me on the inside,
because their brains have been fried.
They have no pride in their kids or themselves.
There is no dictionary on their bookshelves.
Their phone is all they own.
When cyber bullies lie,
God starts to cry.

Poet Till I die...

Worth the Read
I have bookshelves of heartache
that I haven't written yet,
bloodstained pages of regret
that I haven't found words for,
a pen that always runs out of ink
in the most inopportune of moments.
Leaving me breathless in a storm of quiet,
thunderous discontent.
Everyone has a story;
I'm still stitching this one together,
one stanza at a time.
I only hope, after all of this..
It will be worth the read.

Broken Day
colors of tan and black flash in a dark cavern
old books and the smell of dust in the rooms
spotlight glowing in and out from beyond
the harsh noise of siren in the distance
listen- hear the voices waiting under grounds
and they say:

desks and bookshelves aline
they do not need know time
these conflicts will make them
sow all into a hem
one of which will create a mass
soldiers break through fortress glass
gods frown and turn away
on this deadly broken day...
