A bulging belly balefully belies
the vanished vigour of youth;
happens to most of us.

What was,
became you
What will be,
becomes you
What could be,
belies you
What is
—befalls
(Dreamsleep: September, 2020)
My life is a shambles unknown
The chaos is mine all alone
My dishevelled appearance
Belies the coherence
Of the ability to still hold my own
We see fear in the other’s eyes,
which belies heart’s tremulous sighs,
that would, if it could, freely dance
but the spark of pure love’s romance
needs to escape ego spawned lies.
Avocado’s rough exterior skin
Belies the beauty contained within.
Smooth and green with the texture and
Taste of God’s most nourishing delight.
Certain souls compare in this way.
Damn the truth,
damn the lies
Damn the trap,
the choice belies
Damn the freedom,
damn the fate
Behind their masks
—transcendence waits
(Villanova Pennsylvania: August, 2017)
Yea - therein belies mine enemy, such sot;
Countless battles - tho' not the war lost.
A moth seeking light - a man's deepened thought.
Unlike beer - hearts weren't meant to lie in frost.
his pained smile belies
rivulets of quiet rage...
coursing through his veins

Happy Labor Day everyone!:-)
Listen to poem:
what lies within
that chin
beneath quivering lips
that belies the lie
within the tongue
tied by bounds
of clenched teeth
holding within
the lies squirming
in a swarm of spit
lying to be cast in
a phlegm amen
Bubblewrapped children
disparate hope
Spirits in limbo
shortest of ropes
Control and protection
their meaning belies
Tomorrow ill promised
—eternity cries
(Villanova Pennsylvania: November, 2018)
just because a truth appears abstract ~ simply means it merely belies
thought the moth looking at his shadow ~ believing he’s a butterfly

Often
words that
condemn
offer salvation
Their
juxtaposition
the blink
of an eye
What starts
to indict
turns into
redemption
The turn
of a phrase
their meaning
— belies
(The New Room: March, 2025)
Imagine life within a realm
Of magical mystery
Where dreams are not occurrences
But real in all their favor
Nothing passes unobserved
Or felt, though unexplained
A simple truth belies itself
And life the greater gained
Crystal drops of dew
sparking in a silver web
belies a fly's gruesome death
coming into view
as vibrations flow and ebb
a spider seals its last breath.

Over tech connected; drawn to a life infected'
The moot is now mute' bad is the fruit.)
War on lies.? Square root..'
Much belies.' I read divide..Divide.!
Up to the truths, full inversion.'
Hate will grow, to genocides full immersion.!
What came of you, oh rouging bashful sun
Your fiery face belies your youthful enterprise
Morning dew illuminates by incandesce spark
Was it brash action of the taunting wind
that made you color so?
Your blushing face now tints the evening sky.
short forced breath
belies hidden angst
as yet but a ripple
so we look at it
for it has the potential
to become a tsunami
in looking becoming
stillness of the void
there is no one here
save soul presence
one with oneness
vibrant and aglow
Love belies
Pricks deep into heart,
Hurts the tender emotions,
Is love mere word?
Belies the hope and the faith,
Languorous with first cold night !

Siren or sea nymph queen
Sea hag encircled by arms,
Serenity isn't her domain--
Silent swarm of suction cups
Tell secrets to the mistress
Enchantress of deep dreams
Dark abyss of abysmal kelp beds,
Belies the smile she keeps
Kindled on her maidens face.
In silent air on silent wing
the deadly flight to one will find
unwelcome communion in the gloom
that hails the never-ending night
The heart shaped face belies the truth
imparting spiritual grace
a beating heart then nothing more
a flash of white then empty space
A briefcase full of sorrow…
the hiding place of tears
One trade to end all others
excuse to lie and steal
The papers hide the story
all documents in vain
As grief belies the glory
—of a life that deals in pain
(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2019)

Forego thy demons, none would be found here
Such guile belies the pleasure of the young
Until thy trials should rise of fact, not fear,
so will thy measure see the pious hung

If poppies harbour oblivion,
their vivid presence
belies a deep potential.
As if oblivion really worried me-
Surely, death becomes more
than this state of oblivion.
If a brilliant point of transition brings me
to an unimagined state
then nature cannot forsake me

The elegance of your proclamation,
Enchanting divinity of your tone.
Quaking and naïve, hidden by laughter.
My embrace belies my apprehension.
The distilled belief that you perspire
Is a pheromone that intimidates.
Gestures of your assertive intent
Arouses a medley of emotions.
chatter
continuous
banter which numbs the brain
chafing background noise that belies
patience and composure squandered away
meaningless, dreary remarks told
about nothing central
drifting weary
chatter
