Avocados

Avocado’s rough exterior skin Belies the beauty contained within. Smooth and green with the texture and Taste of God’s most nourishing delight. Certain souls compare in this way.

I decided to take a peep in your older poems, Connie, and this did not disappoint! Enjoyed the comparison, and it is important to seek hidden beauty. // I only tried avocados once (I was told they good help get rid of bad cholesterol) but it did not agree with me and I had pain and trouble breathing. ~ Regards // paul

G'day Connie ... a wise adage here in your poem. I like to think of avocados as being a vegetarians butter - thank you Connie - Lindsay

I used to despise them but kept trying and ended up loving them. Fresh cut slices in cool crisp salads garnished with tomatoes and grated veggies and almond slices, laced with freshly ground pepper....... And lets not forget Guacamole w/hint of lemon lime and fresh garlic on chips ...... woops.. sorry gettin carried away there Connie! obviously a tantalizing write! :)- Hungry now..Robert

Can't find any other poems I have not responded to already. Just to write you one last note thanks for all your comments tonight. And Celestial Boon was one I did many years ago. It got last place in a shadowINk book but I had to rework the last two lines to make it fit the "tag" game ending with "I am a poet" haha. LUv, Andrea

I agree with this write totally sometimes we find a jewel in the most unlikely of housing..Sometimes there is a jewel within that needs to come forth and shine on the exterior.. Keep the creative pen flowing..Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my work "Butterfly"..I am glad that you are familiar with the butterfly..It is amazing how the profile of the dog is on each wing in that bright Sunflower yellow..Sara

Connie, Whenever I'm confronted with an absurdity I usually cry... Then I'm an avocado, but not in the sense you present here! Thank you for this piece of loveliness! Tom

Delightful comparison of people to avocados, Connie! Some of those who have the roughest exteriors are all soft and warm inside. I have a special friend this describes perfectly. Enjoyed your poem! Love, Carolyn
