SHIVERS UP THE BACK

Taking a dive at an amusement park,
He was taught to notice the arc of sharks.

          Stay out of their way,
          And don’t try to play.

For a shark’s misdirection’s their earmark.

Laugh Medicine
Land of laughs and cackles
An amusement park built to lighten any mood
Freed shackles

Falling down slopes
Chewing on bites of funny food
Lift hopes

You see
Life is not rude
Whee!

Land of laughs and cackles
Chewing on bites of funny food
Whee!...

Short Verses
Short verses

Warming sun today
The wind has taken a break
We smile behind masks.

At the amusement park
We didn’t eat fried onion rings
Too many children.

Walk along the coast
The sea-breeze doesn’t sneeze
Tells us a story.

Once I was a seal pup
But was born with hands and feet
Expelled to shore life....

The Ending
didn't you see it?
my sheer adoration
how happy I was around you
the childlike giddiness
like a 5-year-old who wanted more
demanding more
naively trusting you
the older sibling
or priest-like figure
who indulged me
swept me away
and left me
like a child lost
at an amusement park
abandoned
by the person
she cared about most...

Premium Member Going To Horror Land
We are going to Horror Land ha ha!
Her folks just returned from the Mardi Gras
Who named this amusement park Horror land?
Asked a man whose ideas were large and grand.

Person who created it for Halloween.
It’s the kind of place where most can scream.
The kids like everything about it said Ma.
So when we went, we had to take Pa....

The Best Months
your voice
the way it sounded quiet when you were upset

the sad guitar you played
the melodies that gave me shivers

the laughs and screams
from our first date at the amusement park

the songs you sent me
that make me cry when i hear them now

your heartbeat, so close to mine
a slow, but steady beating

the best months of my life
reduced to memories and sounds...

Welcome To Leisure Land
A forsaken theme park, once a magic place It’s hay day in the sixties, quaint and pretty To go there now you won’t find a friendly face Strange outcasts on the outskirts of the city Rumor's fly with grave warnings of fallen grace Chase you with a smile, sinister and gritty Guarded with a shotgun, and it’s oh so grand Doors locked, eyes open. Welcome to Leisure Land!

It's a funny strange thing

When you're not around

Like the lack of a smile

On a circus clown

Like a ferris wheel

With all empty seats

Or a candied apple

More tart than sweet

Or a merry-go-round

That looks kind of scary

Or that huge prize teddy

To big to carry

Like an amusement park

On a winters day

And as long as you're gone

That's the way it will stay...

I remember
I Remember

I remember a time
When all was so bright
With bustling crowds
And neon lit nights

Covered wagon caterpillars
And bunnies of blue
Teacups that spun
You sat in them too

I remember the days
When scooters could fly
Pinball was king
And everything thrived

I remember the smells
Of hot dogs & beer
I remember it all
And wish it still there

Summer Is Great
School is now over, homework is done,
Now I am ready for summer fun!

I lay in the shade under a tree,
There are so many cloud shapes to see.
Spending my days on amusement park rides,
Spending my nights at a campfire outside.
I just can't wait for the memories I'll make,
Especialy when I go to the lake.

Summer night are long, I stay up late,
This is why I think Summer is great!

All actors trailed by actresses
Know the best way to the tunnels
Is to already be within the
Big Ring that secures this
Magic KINGDOMCUM.
It's not about looking
Through the window and
Getting past the DACS,
Or going back to where
I want to end up.
On the grand tour
I could get lost
When lovers i love
Have no thought of my style.
Go then, go on to Disney Land
And place your hand
On the magical clock!...

Desertion

the wind whispers “lonely”
at the roller coaster pier
where happy screams of delight fright
still haunt the atmosphere

the rust moans “empty”
on a deserted Ferris Wheel
where lovers sought the height of night
now only girders squeal

the sky speaks in thunder
above the amusement park
a place where children’s laughs of glee
echo in cold and dark

Funhouse
It's a little bit funny, it's a little bit tragic.
That the love I once felt has turned into magic.
Thinking back to where it all began.
I was a boy in search of a man.
I thought I knew who I was,
I thought I knew what I wanted.
But all that I am is a vacant house haunted.
Haunted by the memory of trust betrayed.
My heart has become an amusement park of riches.
Not knowing how to stop myself from riding this ferris-wheel of emotions....

a thousand musty specters cry out

Premium Member Zippily
Listen to poem:
Zippily, zippity, I slip down
the slippery dip slide.
Zippity-doo-dah, slippily-dippity-do!
Suddenly and nippily, tipping
backwards to quicken the pace.
Snappily, I whippingly
swish right off the end of the slide.
I launch into space,
Fly high in the air, arms wildly flaying
like a rocket man on steroids, screaming.
I land with an awfully
painful jolt, snap and thump.
Woefully my aplomb undone,
not so spryly or lightly,
right on my backside....

42.
Play the amusement park tune
Start the carousal going round
The child always wants the ride
Recall the eerie childhood sound

My ugly unwashed hair
Crooked brown stained teeth
The shame of poverty’s snare
The dysfunctional disease

Bring out the youth’s trauma
Make it a Technicolor show
Where the past belongs in gray scale
To make drama, memories must grow.

Mistakes that will not fade
Sticking to my sides like glue
The wound that mother made
Am I unclean beyond repair?...
