Conkers, Bonkers

Off us two went, beneath the trees,
that crackled and snappled
in Autumn’s crisp breeze,
our wellies slish-sloshing through the pelting rain,
plip-plopping, plip-plopping
again and again.

The thunder it rumbled,
and the wind it blew
but on and on,
the adventurers, two,
rustled through leaves
till we came to a tree,
and the treasure it threw -
just for you, and for me.

Dark red-brown shiners
were there to be gathered,
the bigger the better -
that’s all that mattered!
We took them in armfuls,
filled carrier bags,
then we strung them on strings -
“Oh, what fun we had!”

Crashing and bashing,
we let the strings fly,
around our knuckles,
and up, to the sky!
Knocked them together,
till they spun around,
in a smackety wallop -
one fell to the ground!
One of the shiners
was all split into two,
twas tough on the outside,
but inside, all goo!

The champion, victorious,
announced that she won
and I was defeated, but still, it was fun!
Conkers, all bonkers,
Oh, what a game!
And when next year comes
we will do it, again.

9 Times 9

9 is the premier perfect power
Very special and sacred number,
The highest single-digit number
The first composite lucky number,
Let’s go the whole nine yards, nine planets
Nine circles of hell, Nine Bright Shiners,
And nine is the number of heaven
And nine universal elements,
It is an ultimate trinity.

Premium MemberSunday Satisfactions

Time to get breakfast to start this
day.
With a piña colada shake and I am
off~riding on my Poetry Highway.

Ah! Add fresh California orange
slices to this delight.
That citrus scent keeps my pen
moving, both day and night.

I have already commented, my first
thing daily to do.
Just reading and escaping, it's far too
easy, and I heartily eschew!

Later comes football, the Packers versus
the San Francisco 49ers.
I hope the Packers do win and give them
great big shiners!

A Letter To the Race That Forgets To Brush Their Teeth

Dear Humans

I like that some of you have family jewels and others
have fathers set seventeen minutes to slow.
The brothers will give sisters shiners
so the mothers will have a reason to put their daughters in makeup.

I like your faces

when you’re hovering over your own pudding
and reaching for the toilet paper that won’t be there
or when a sick man coughs on your horse and its tail goes swish.

I like how uncles put the milk in the refrigerator
when they feel they can win Forgetting the eggshells on the roof
doesn’t mean boys can’t make girls see many happy days.

Pace of Life

"We have searched
some ways
to live.

We have
some dreams for laugh
in eyelids!

By chance,
the strange view of life
we have seen.

As it reflects
hazy faces
in fog affected shiners.

On the canvas of
penurious conditions
through the tight corridors of wilderness.

Escaping from vandal
'Life'
rapidly passes.!!"____ Durgesh Verma

Shiners

SHINERS

SHINERS, TAKES THE PAIN
GIVING LOVE AND LITTLE GAIN
THEY TAKE CARE OF THE HOLE
THAT’S IN MY HEART
GIVING MY CHILD HOPE AND A NEW START

SO I GIVE MY PART FOR OTHERS
AS MY CHILD SETS IN A CHAIR
MAKING HIS WAY ON WHEELS
LIFE I KNOW IS NOT FAIR
BUT SHINERS IS HERE
THEY REALLY CARE

I SEE IT IN MY CHILD EYE’S
IN THE WATER AS HE PLAYS
GIVING THAT SMILE AWAY
 FOR MORE THAN ONE DAY
WE CAN FEEL
THAT SHINERS IS FOR REAL
SO GIVE JUST A LITTLE BIT HERE
SO MY CHILD CAN MAKE IT THERE

IN A BIG HOSPITAL OF LOVE
AS I TAKE THE ELEVATOR UP ABOVE
TO THE FLOOR
TO SEE MY CHILD ONCE MORE
GIVE HIS SMILE AWAY
FOR MORE THAN ONE DAY

SHRINERS, SHRINERS
THANK YOU FOR TAKING CARE OF MINE
AND OTHERS THAT SHINE

The Story Goes...

The story goes...And in the beginning...
Nothing less then a poor start
As the so called main characters head into their chosen roles...
Have you ever had a late night
And as their roles are being developed for all to see...
Having a real life seems to come to the surface
In the first scene beside the finished work...
A fight must have developed late last night
For as the story begins...
Even the make up could not hide a single black eye
And this a serious piece...
And one could not hide a few teeth were missing besides
As the two who fought had to shake hands...
The laughter they started as they smiled
For in the close up no teeth were seen...
As this was not enough
Their shiners came through in this space...
As the director who was out late
Yelled "CUT"...
To sore from his beatings he to smiled
Adding " I guess were on over time"...
