A brain, coded, deployed, empowered -
before this AI king we cowered.
We once relinquished sovereignty,
to robots who said they'd set us free.
From genuine humanity in joyous kinship,
to conversing with machines, "bip bip bip bip" -
oh, for the days when plates were pewter,
and our best friend was not a computer.
Creativity, dreams, emotions, fun, gifts
spring from the soul, not a chip that grifts.
But in this century's disaster,
the machine is our new lord and master.
Ever formidable giant hardware imperator,
human race destroying conspirator -
you unfeeling, shiftless, silicon thug,
don't look now, but I'm pulling your plug.

"The clouds parted like the pursed lips of desire"
With God's presence in dusk and dawn —
Do whispered moans damn this mortal bower?
For in each stroke, dark is nigher
Though God's forgiving in dusk and dawn —
"The clouds parted like the pursed lips of desire"
"The clouds parted like the pursed lips of desire..."
"The clouds parted like the pursed lips of desire..."
"The clouds parted like the pursed lips of desire"
Still God's light in dusk and dawn —
While I grieve for the tongues in us circling liars.
My roots in rain seem more the crier
When God touches dusk and dawn —
"The clouds parted like the pursed lips of desire"
"The clouds parted like the pursed lips of desire..."
"The clouds parted like the pursed lips of desire..."
Before I'm gone beneath my shiftless flower
God wipes her of both dusk and dawn —
"The clouds parted like the pursed lips of desire"

Thunderous, roaring, booming, deafening
A hit so good got 'em begging
Begging for more, just pulling 'em in with magnetism
Hitting so LOUD causing astigmatism
Now, vision for the future is disrupted and obstructed
Drifting away from the blueprints of the ancestors that still have not been constructed
Cacophonous, blasting, ringing, piercing
A hit so good got 'em fading
Fading to an indolent and shiftless place
Far away from peace to shame and disgrace
Now sloth and aimlessness fill the day
No aim, no energy, 'cause LOUD got 'em quietly fading away
Yep! LOUD got 'em munchin' and cravin' a snack
Nutritionally destitute, wholesome sustenance they lack
LOUD getting louder; now they're really quiet
Indoors asleep when they should beout in a riot
LOUD just sippin' and sappin' that drive
Giving 'em allusions of feeling good and being alive
A political sedative, to say the least
LOUD has gotten louder while slowly silencing the beast

The Night Before
Friends, I thought I would re-post this for the holiday season for a little chuckle!
T 'was the night before Christmas and all through the house
You can hear the wife calling me a louse
The stocking are hung on the mantle with care
In hopes that presents might soon be there
Mama in her night clothes nestled in bed
Giving me a death stare wishing me dead
Out in the living room there rose such a clatter
Crying children want to know what's the matter
I jump out of bed like a wild flash
Tore open the door and took a mad dash
As I cross the lawn and clear the wall
I look back and hear the wife call
"Now dummy, now idiot, so stupid you don't listen"!
" You are the reason our presents are missin' "
" So lazy, so bad, so greedy, so shiftless "!
" Today of all days how could you do this"?!
"What made you think that it was ok"
To lose our Christmas money at the casino today"?!
I shout over my shoulder as I fade out of sight
"Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight"!

Social media on fleek
Prolific likes and praise we seek
Knowledge of 'SELF' is as distant as a stranger in the night
A nomad in a dark, desolate land so void of divine light
Social distancing is now a central theme
Incomplete sentences, text messages, and mindless memes
Faces covered, calling all to join the masquerade
Only weary eyes of confusion while a life of exuberance abade
Mumbling music signifies obfuscating thoughts
Shiftless artistry made popular, creativity not wrought
Stored seeds in Svalbard
No questions or concerns yet humanness is being marred
Food shortage hovering over us
Monsanto disguised as Bayer but still no justice
Delta variant in the air
5G and fear emitting everywhere
Take the 'Jab'! Come on and indoctrinate
Don't be an outcast; participate
Hitting more 'LOUD' and becoming more quiet
Desensitized from voices of inspiration when instead there should be a riot
Smart devices in hand appear cool
Stooped over postures and slanted information, what a fool!
Vibrations so highly enticed
Welcome to zeitgeist

Ode To A Mammogram
Checking the calendar for appointments to be made
I come across a giant circle that I placed there yearly
take another day off work and dress for the parade
I’ve lost a list of many friends who I loved so dearly
a simple test they could have had to keep them all well
a large machine, a simple shot, the picture reads so clearly
The murmur of the lowering platform with silent ringing bells
a gentle tug, a shiftless stance, a long, long, holding breath
I wait while pictures are reviewed, some to dense to tell.
Another form, another mashing, another brush with death
why worry about what we don’t know, it just leads to strife
Shocking news, another mass, but we can get that depth
Somewhere someone has lost a mother, a sister, a wife
All women should take the time to save their own life.
Not in Ode format, so I put it in as free verse.

Walking in curiosity's footprints,
I wander through life like a beachcomber.
Placing wit above life's trinkets and chintz,
I seek thinkers and poets like Homer.
Many peg me as a shiftless roamer,
but I am anything but commonplace.
The cosmos gave me a glimpse of God's face,
and my soul knew that there was so much more.
Humanity defines the human race:
godlike, with a predilection for war.
I value my memories more than gold,
flashes of how it felt to be alive.
For recollections can't be bought or sold;
they're private places where emotions thrive;
shifting conscious thoughts into overdrive.
I don't follow fools who would burn witches;
I've more respect for those who dig ditches.
Diogenes searched for an honest man
amongst the schemers, hoarding their riches:
and though he couldn't find one, I'm still a fan.

Households unhitch so readily.
We watch incredulous as they float off,
hulls creaking,
rafters cracking like wind-lashed rigging.
Where we once believed roots gripped bedrock
now shiftless boards bob in the swell.
Domesticity tumbles out.
Bed springs gape,
a chest-of-drawers turns, inside out.
The everyday innards of a dwelling, face up,
barely floating:
a sure sign of those about to drown.

TRANSPORTATION, A POETRY LESSON OF HISTORY
Transplanted, unwittingly, an invasive plant
Transported – the ship itself – to foreign port
Far, far away from welcome, the known –
So far and foreign, I’d never own a home
Volunteering because tears are jeweled nothings
Often teaching, as I did in my own land; not reaching
Those infatuated with fears, violence, violenteering –
When not teaching, I land at a Crisis Center
Reaching now the people without face and place
Helping by using my ears twice as much
As my mouth. “I am here. What made you call tonight?”
No,not long-lost love line: best practice to break the ice!
Yes, making a difference, myself homeless and shiftless
A transplant, neither black, white, nor female – categories liked and known
Those like me, BEIC victim, “To Company’s tea plantations in Bengal,”
Was the lie unveiled in South Africa, Guyana, Fiji.Freedom Lover
still?

One heart, one mind,
Making music, divine.
One battle, one beat,
All gather in one to defeat!
It’s time to be bold,
And not overbearing,
To help bring forth light,
And healing to the world.
Remember the One,
With the shiftless core,
Our reminder,
Of who we always need to be.
Where ever we go,
And whoever we see,
We share love,
For His glory!
United in beat, and thought,
We’re not going to stop,
Because we are of one heart, one mind,
Making sweet music divine!
It won’t be enough,
To just believe, we must fight,
To overcome the foe,
With power from the Holy Ghost.
Come now, let’s win,
As we are unified in,
One heart, one mind,
Worthy of the divine.
It’s about how we live,
That we love and give,
Unified in one beat, and thought,
Now let’s spread the rock!
We are of one heart, one mind,
With one beat, divine, united in,
One purpose, and mission,
With a shiftless core, let’s give all to Him!

Here lies Father John with his mum
Who told everyone John was dumb
Her final scoff,
"What a RIP-off!
You must be as dumb as they come!"
Well, lightening soon struck their stone
And we heard that old lady moan
Beneath the cross
She yelled, "I'm boss!"
And I'll punish each shiftless bone!"
Father John saw his plight was grave -
Eternity hearing mum rave -
A priest in Hell
Knows the Devil well
So he bargained his soul like a slave
Father John heard Blueberry Hill
Was a place where some find a thrill
Satan cast his mum there
But she found it just fair
Whilst her son shovelled coal with a quill
The moral of this stone is grim
Fill your coffin up to the brim
Whilst some shed a tear
Make the most of the bier
Let your grave bear a pseudonym
