The Night Before

Friends, I thought I would re-post this for the holiday season T 'was the night before Christmas and all through the house You can hear the wife calling me a louse The stocking are hung on the mantle with care In hopes that presents might soon be there Mama in her night clothes nestled in bed Giving me a death stare wishing me dead Out in the living room there rose such a clatter Crying children want to know what's the matter I jump out of bed like a wild flash Tore open the door and took a mad dash As I cross the lawn and clear the wall I look back and hear the wife call "Now dummy, now idiot, so stupid you don't listen"! " You are the reason our presents are missin' " " So lazy, so bad, so greedy, so shiftless "! " Today of all days how could you do this"?! "What made you think that it was ok" To lose our Christmas money at the casino today"?! I shout over my shoulder as I fade out of sight "Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight"!

Hi Timothy, Hope you are well, thought I'd pay you a visit - I loved your poem . You disentangled yourself from the situation very cleverly - 'Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!' Hugs and blessings, Jennifesr.
