Lent

Lent can be a time to give up:
chocolate
alcohol
cell phones
television
computers
cursing
smoking

While they are all good

What if we did:
pray more
serve at a homeless shelter
spend more time with family
go to church
read the Bible
call a sick friend
help a single mother

Lent is more than giving up something.
It is about loving and serving God
and loving and serving others
as Jesus did for us.

Observe the Serve

Observe Your serve,
When you're on the last nerve,
Your mind Leaves the preserve,
Swerving into Emotional reserves,
Be sure to observe what you serve,
As you swerve into a dangerous curve,
You may get something you don't deserve.

Premium MemberI Serve A Risen Savior

“Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.” - Martin Luther

With gentle hands, He molds the soul
Breathing light past timeless shadows
Singing psalms of grace who’ll console
Loved by One who died and arose

His kindness paints admirers glad
In words of belief the heart knows
Singing joy to those who are sad
Loved by One who died and arose

With a soft voice, He stills the storms
Bringing peace everywhere He goes
Changing fates for those He reforms
Loved by One who died and arose

His word assures us that we’re free
Because of love that grows and grows
Grace holds answers, the real key
Loved by One who died and arose

With praises lifted so He’ll hear
I’m so thankful I’m one He chose
Because of Him, I’ll never fear
Loved by One who died and arose

The Light Shines in Jars of Clay

When God commanded the light to shine
out of earth’s darkness, the light obeyed.
Then He sent the Light, His Son, divine
to earth - God’s glory thru the Christ conveyed.

This Light of the World has ascended
back to His Father from whom He came.
But His Spirit He has extended
enlightening all who trust in His name.

We house treasured spirit deep within
bodies easily broken and cheap.
In jars of clay we show mortal men
it’s God alone who has power to keep.

Premium MemberZeal To Serve God

To serve the Lord God with my utmost best…
          Such gives me wondrous zeal*
      Driven by grace for divine quest
                    Bearing love’s seal.

Vanquishing boredom midst slothfulness’ blight
          My faith strives to work well
      Beseeching Holy Spirit’s might
                    As I excel.

Propelled to continue despite hardship
          Braced by Almighty’s hand
      My heart seeks for blissful worship
                    Oh, blest demand.

Joyful in fulfilling ministry roles
          I’m a yielded steward
      Thanking the Saviour for great roles
                    In His safeguard.

*2Kings 10:16 Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD…

Premium MemberTimes Running Out Serve God Before It's Too Late-

Hurry, hurry say you, say y'all
The end of time is drawing neigh
 And in the course of present-day events
Divertimes are ever present
Use your time well, for life is hell
Yet death is life enjoyed in heaven
 So before you fall, call on the one at all time is short
I must confess
Serve the Father before your last breath
Repent and refrain from your misery
Turn away your sins so you be forgiven
Please hurry, hurry before Jesus comes
Hurry before you draw your last blood
The time is short you shouldn't wait
Don't hesitate
Repent
it your sins before it's too late

The Born To Rule Mentality

In the fantasizing brains of all Nigerian Fulanis,
Including their kindergarten still urinating on nannies;
All the entries and exits within country’s Aso Rock
To keep obeying their adjustable, Fulani clock!
Presently, the unstoppable aspiration of the Purest Hausa teens
Recklessly announcing the same to their napkins:
The Achilles Heel of the Brazilian Football Team,
Easily her ruinous tears commanding,
When she should a loser’s smile beam,
This, thorough Good Breeding demanding.

By the United States beautifully masked,
In her playing of Uncle Tom, enormously tasked;
Her millions of Dollars readily releasing
A loved President, the next election, losing!

To nearly every deprived tribe
Something to fight with the fattest bribe
Or surrender with a loaded gun
Making sure it doesn’t away run!

I’ve tried to The Mentality justify,
Baring a Bible verse that does it fortify…
Or so to me it had seemed
Or, probably, I has deemed…
‘The Elder shall serve The younger’…
And God must’ve, the service years, made longer!

The Cup-Bearer's Thoughts

I serve with my heart, all
Your mountain must not fall
We meet servant and master
To run forward the faster

Your goal clearly defined
Mine too more refined
Leader and follower united now
To testify of forgiveness, the how

Why this unlikely pair?
Cause of a God just and fair
I serve before kings
Who drink of your wisdom things

I was a vessel empty, then
Now filled with your ken
They drink it in very slowly
The cupbearer thought he was most lowly

Accountability

When positions of authority
Blatantly abuse their power
Telling you what you’re seeing
Isn’t what it appears to be
We need accountability.
When the murderers wear badges
But skip the silver bracelets
And orange jumpsuits and
Remain free to kill again
There should be accountability.
Too much has gone on
For too long to too many
Man’s law isn’t enough.
So justice can truly be served
Why isn’t there accountability?
We shouldn’t have to fight
Day in and day out
Simply for the right to breathe
We’re all human beings
Yet there’s no real accountability.
I pray each night for lives lost
At the hands of those
Who had sworn to protect
I pray God comes and restores order
So there will be accountability.

Something’s gotta give.

Premium MemberRemorse I'Ve Changed My Course-Now My Choice Is To Serve the Lord

You confess me with your mouth;
Yet your actions have gone further south;

But am I am I in your heart;
O’ God or am I yet still lost;

You confessed me;
I reject thee;
Now I’m turnt myself around;
My obedience is now sound;

In remorse, I’ve changed the course;
Now that I’m sorry, repentive, of value and in sincere change of mind;
I can be found with my mouth
Now praising my Lord , my God
Hallelujah

Serve God With a Pure Heart

Serve God with a pure heart,
Though no one watches you;
Do it with honesty,
For God is great and true.

Praise God with a clear mind,
Thinking not of evil;
Listen to His wise words
That your life should fulfill.

Worship God with meek soul,
Submitting to His name;
Follow His commandment
In respect without shame.

Pray to God with spirit
That works well deep inside;
The Father knows all things,
No way will your thoughts hide.

Allow your eyes to see
How God lets woes depart;
With strong love, hope, and faith,
Serve God with a pure heart.

Premium MemberI Shall Serve You Lord and Live a Quiet Life--

Oh Lord, these are troubled times;
Father God, This world is noisy
Oh, Lord by your word;
By your will;
By your way;
Your instruction  to make it my goal;
To serve you God and live a quiet life;
Oh, Lord by your word;
By your will;
By your way;
Father, I will mind my business;
And work with your hands;
Pray for the sick and needy;
Just as you instructed me before;
Oh, Lord by your word;
By your will;
By your way;
