Lent

Lent

Lent can be a time to give up:
chocolate
alcohol
cell phones
television
computers
cursing
smoking

While they are all good

What if we did:
pray more
serve at a homeless shelter
spend more time with family
go to church
read the Bible
call a sick friend
help a single mother

Lent is more than giving up something.
It is about loving and serving God
and loving and serving others
as Jesus did for us.

Amen, Oliver! The greatest sacrifice we can make is giving up apathy toward engaging in labors of love; servicing God by being in service to those in need. Indeed, it is one thing, to simply to "practice" your religion, but it is another thing to faithfully live it! Thanks for sharing this beautiful, profound Lenten awareness. One. Peace and love.

Service sounds like a fine way to celebrate lent. I remember that some people walked several miles barefoot. It is probably too cold this year to do it. Prayer is always good for everyone. I must do.

Yes on the prayer. Not sure I want to walk barefoot. Thanks for reading
