It Went Up and Came Down

The ball went up, and down it came
In the neighbor’s yard, now what a shame
He can be a bit of a grouch you see
He’s not overly fond of kids like me
Shall I climb over the fence, or ring the bell
Maybe his wife’s home, that would be swell
Oh look, someone’s tossed it right back
Thank you! For cutting this kid some slack…

Bb's Rattle

BB's really rattle in the shell
Of a container,loose like bell
Clapper, hanging free to ding
Ideas rattle in poet's brain to ring

The audience, and awake from sleep
Oh! Into a new dimension of deep
Thoughts, understanding of heights above
The ordinary, into a new realm of love (truth)

(Thank you Lord for your blesssings on me.)

Spell Check

I know it well
The night
I learned to spell
And got it right
Then I could tell
How close to Hell
I’d held the light
A stand upon a precipice
Thank lady Luck
I didn’t miss
The night
I learned to spell
The candle sputtered
As I read and uttered
Words and tolled
The bell
And in the spinning winds of time
I learned to spell
Quite well
And sell

Just Another Extraordinary Day At Work

pictures of you
wishes on a forklift
another ordinary day
cannot afford to daydream

pictures of you
extended bathroom break
my cell phone comes in HANDY
cannot afford open eyed wet dreams

pictures of you
reality kicking in after the aftermath
my forklift key drops on the floor like a neglected bell
cannot afford You anyway

Thank God For Disagreeing With Me and For AllWays Being Right

A Note To Alan Trotiner

I understand, if not for you, I would not know the sad news,
I know you are a brilliant person, working at a young age,
In sales in Flea Markets, and such,
I just want to let you know,
Your brother was proud of you,
And of that you should never doubt...
Please keep in touch with me,
Quasarttt228@aol.com...
You now carry the Trotiner mantel,
A legacy I know you are worthy of...

and Thank You, Tom Bell

Norman Vincent Peale

Norman Vincent Peale
Who lived his life with religous zeal.
Witneesed his cousins leather strap demeaner.
Glad for his home, where the grass seemed greener.
He'd turn and crank the bell of his youth.
As he learned to thank God he was raised with couthe.

I read in a short story he wrote, he rang this doorbell from his grandma's old house and it would bring him back to his childhood days back in a quaint little town.

Dear Fickle Judge

Politely, thank you for engaging me
But transform myself?
No, thank you

Leap for me, like a bullfrog under a blood moon in the heart of Guatemala
Sing for me, like a gilded bird in a Tiffany bell jar
Make three hurdles, five sprints, and nine squats into a banana sundae

Thrill me, bleed words for me

Knock on my attic window where I study alone, find and echo me

No More, No Less

I will continue to respire with ragged lungs
A breath is presence
It knows nought but its own truth
It lingers to meet the crowd
It passes

Let the Music Play On - Violin

"Agnes, you played like an angel,
pitch perfect as a ringing bell."

"I'll bequeath mine to you dear,
no need to thank or shed a tear.

"I feel blessed to share this with you.
dawning enlightenment so true."

"Practice and it will start to flow,
making you a virtuoso."

"Think 'bow' extension of your arm,
make it your veritable charm."

"With the right tutor you shall bloom."
"Now, listen while I play this tune."

"Octaves lowering and ascending,
let them float through senses blending."

"Elevates to musical place,
 expresses clearly on your face".

Souper-Men/Souper Woman-Convention Idea

I think we should ask the Soup people about this convention-where to have- how
much each would need to contribute. This could be a big promotional coup for
the Soup people-even if they charge us , say $20 per head to attend- and more
for site...etc...And perhaps I can get my old band together for entertainment- I'd
even do some of my stand-up comedy...band and comedy gratis. and maybe
vote for a couple of categories of poetry- romantic, humourous-sad-life-loss-
and "Grand Master Poet" Please advise me of your thoughts! Thank you, and
God bless you all!! tom bell

Fridays Through the Years

       T G I F - Thank God It's Friday!
This is a term kids like to say.
At three, bell ringing would convey
school's done...reward...TWO DAYS OF PLAY!

       T G I F - Thank God It's Friday!
This is a phrase employees bray.
End of the day, they think hooray!
Work's done...reward...WEEKEND, PAYDAY!

       T G I F - Thank God It's Friday!
ALL days are Fridays in a way.
       Retirees now, with hope they pray;
day's done...reward...ANOTHER DAY!

National Day of Prayer 2013

three seguidillas
written for the National Day of Prayer
May 2, 2013

Very soon after terror
threatens with its spell,
faith signals us to gather
belief rings a bell.
Sounding out our care
as the dreaded darkness falls.
Stop and offer prayer.

During times of joy and peace
and when hopes prevail,
morning, noon or late at night
praise should never fail.
Thank the God who cares
when His blessings intervene.
Stop and offer prayers.

If you're worried or afraid
if you're caught in doubt
realize God sees your plight,
open up and shout.
Victory declare
let folks know you know He's real.
Stop and offer prayer.

Wade the Shallows

Wade the Shallows

Wade the shallows, swim not the deep,
loss of time makes the old man weep.
Imagine castles, thundered in glory prime
fleeing shadows racing about in time!

Comfort of the known sees the dream,
whistles the kettle in heated steam.
A vow, a promising oath made in sin
darkened shadows await in the heart of men!

Cleave to the willows along the bank,
sand on the beach, rocks to thank
Look back at a wild path solemnly made
rejoice in the hand so well played!

Walk a path that gives solace and high spirit.
Ring that bell, do not worry if failing to hear it!

Seizures

Sweet seizures,
I get them these days,
Come awake,
In a foggy haze...

Just drop to the floor,
Sometimes unaware
Save for bruises
and an overturned chair

Can't drive no more,
Too dangerous,
For sure
Just go on my way
With pain every day

Only Soup and music
Distract my pain
And suddenly,
I'm me again

So thank you,
Dear Soupers,
Such treasured friends,
I hope I amuse you,
Cause it's love that mends

And I get plenty,
Right here,
On this marvelous site,
Although, at times,
It keeps me up all night..

Thank you Poetry Soup Management
You serve the world well
This you can say
