Sunsets in Saharan skies
Every nomad looks and sighs
Reprieved from unrelenting heat
Peruse the sun in its retreat
Every desert roamer knows
Nights with cool sand twixt their toes
Their utmost fear at the oasis?
Serpents lurk in nighttime places

So the creatures of the night
Creatures that emerge and bite
Only fear the bedouin
Replete with pots to cook them in
Pincers and a

Serpents, scorpions, owls,
Swingers, stingers, wise old gals,
Dogs, bones, bow wow wows,
Paws, purrs, cat's meows.

Canines, felines, feral creatures,
Headlines, deadlines, double features,
Ping, pong, pink expressions,
Sing, song, apprehensions.

Sows, cows, milk-bag givers,
Scaredy-cats and chicken livers,
Porky pigs and truffle treasures,
Dorky wigs and other pleasures.

Polywogs and rollie pollies,
Gollygogs and holly holies,
Ice cream trucks and cone packers,
Dumb clucks and silly quackers.

Gritty

Serpents, Scorpions, and Owls

What do you look for in a man?
I usually say wisdom.
An owl that is respectful,
Thinks with his head,
But still acknowledges the heart.
As much as i pretend to love those birds,
Who flock to your side once smitten—
I tend to fall,
For those sly serpents,
Who could care less if I’m eaten.
I know they tell lies,
But their sickly

SERPENTS SCORPIONS AND OWLS

We are led to believe that serpents lie
But that is the theme of a famous story
And by eating forbidden fruit, we die
Living a life no longer blessed in glory

Scorpions look evil, but that’s the point
A stinging tail used only when required
But depends however on a flexible joint
And with its protective scales, is

One night, in the famous Amazon Rainforest
held its first “Mr. or Miss Venomous Quest,”
Goals of the search were for entertainment and fun
catered to all diurnal brutes who’re sad without the sun.

Nocturnal animals hosted an amusement battle
where the chosen team-representatives will wrestle,
They put up a wrestling ring under an oak tree
for all spectators could clearly view

slithering, creeping, shuttering terror
serpent grovels along the dust of earth
forked tongue hisses, taunting and twisting
is there smoke as nostrils flare?
        is he something to beware?

followed by scorpion, sharp edged spite
stinger rises, poisonous venom

We arose from restless dead since time before
your futile presence an ancient Earth did spore
your many variants, which we gladly sting,
no matter which holy deity or king
you set against. Serqet heals but cannot cure;
guardian of Qebehsenuef; brief allure
that regards canonic jar of chitterlings,
timeless amulet that bears such hollow rings.
Our poison always threats your sweet milieu

Premium MemberMy Love For Scorpions

With eyes that pierce every soul/
Gleaming secrets untold/
Dragons may reign the endless skies/
But on land, scorpions arise/
Symbols deep, ancient and bold/
In desert lands, where stories unfold/
Fearless and mighty/
They stand in might/
Through moonlit nights, through the darkness plight/
Their bravery, strength, and will to strive/
In scorching sands, they come alive/
Unmatched, unyielding, they survive/
A testament to the force

Scorpions

Night, just sleeping in a dream of land
Thousand of eyes look at me, evil kinds
My heart beats, I can’t breathe, swelter
My eyes opened. Death’s smile arriving

My room was full of scorpions, all looked at me
Slowly they climbed at me and covered me.
This is the last memory from my life. Goodbye.
The smell of death became

beware of arachnids of the worst type
I speak of scorpions, this is no hype
they have a serious sting and venom too
found in deserts and grasslands, they make you blue

a cousin of spiders, ticks, and the tiny mite
this mini lobster’s tricks are worse than dynamite
beware my child of this dangerous predator so fine
His whip tail will

SIMPLE SPIDER STORY

SIMPLE SPIDER STORY

Palsy poison spider
bickering, binding, biting
sparring, stinging, scampering
creeping in crevices cocooned
coded crooked cock-eyed

Here, there, everywhere

Scorpions enticed bicolour eyes
broken webs of gravity’s return
to sting a billion bites boggling
so drenched in poison they
polluted rivers and valleys alike

Here, there, everywhere

Palsy spider died a peevish death
a pensive peony covered her crevice
soon after

So many unconscionable ways to deal with pain
This scorpions lost track of how many dragons he's slain
Others might have battled them with a shield and sword
My weapons of choice, the pen, paper, and the keyboard
The handful of companions that have stood with me and fought by my side
Will know love and devotion in excess to

For those
who are content to scan
the surface of things
the desert can seem
quite empty and harsh;
while some others
like myself, travel
the crevasses, rest in
the shade side of a
thorny cactus – become
part of their luscious blooms
after a rare rain, or simple
cloud hiccup. More deserts
within than without, when
a heart is barren and the soul
refusing all relief –
I
