He Called Me Lazarus
Miracle Man
2/22/2023
Good morning Lazarus,
were his first words voiced.
Then immediately with tears,
my eyes began welling.
Twas one day past Easter,
and I sat there unvoiced.
Thoughts rushing from my heart,
that were compelling.
He was referencing the day,
God had rescued me.
I think back on this time,.
when prayer warriors pleaded.
Then from the pangs of death,
“Miracle Man” came to be.
God’s hand during this time,
was not to be impeded.
As advanced years whisper by,
God grants me recall.
Of the destiny that brought,
this time into being.
The Widow Maker and S.C.A.
did both on me befall.
But God had a purpose,
far beyond my seeing.
Synopsis Of A Miracle
Miracle Man
12/14/2021
Clinically I had died,
I’m told Shock paddles hit my chest 7 times to bring me back.
I had surgery for spinal stenosis then 15 days later
I spent 2 months in the hospital recovering from the “Widow Maker”
On December 29th then Sudden Cardiac arrest three days later on January 1st 2017. (only 8% recover from S.C.A.) Most body functions were shutting down and 16 bags hung on a chrome drip frame sustaining life. My wife was told that there was little hope, there were just too many things going against me all at once. Then My Miracle happened, within hours things immediately changed and in 7 days only 1 bag hung on the drip frame. Doctors told my wife they couldn’t explain it but a miracle had taken place. Jesus had touched my life again. One of the most heartfelt / emotional moments of my life
has been when My Cardiologist entered the exam room a year later (the day after Easter) and referred to me as Lazarus.
God has used my life to witness to Doctors and others since that time and that is why the things I write are signed Miracle Man.
Just felt the need to say this today.

My world being mired in turmoil and strife,
in thought, I searched daily, for peace in life.
With negative matters plucking my strings,
I searched for solutions to soothe life's dings.
Then one day a Doctor gave my answer,
at twenty-eight I was told, "It's cancer".
Then came an answer I didn't foresee,
a nail scarred hand reaching out to me.
Suddenly I regretted past years spent,
and for my sins chose, that day, to repent.
God took control of my speed bumps in life,
causing me to focus on afterlife.
The cancer that once had my body bound,
in an instant was gone and I was sound.
Now facing eighty-three I'm found today,
having faced many speed bumps along the way.
God has given me, the peace I once sought,
Ridding me, of emotional distraught.
I've survived the widow maker, then S.C.A.,
and await God's call that will end my stay.

A new years miracle that I’m recalling today,
It brings me little comfort recalling this time.
Although God’s mightiness was visibly on display,
clinically dead, I’d heard death bell’s chime.
First the “Widow Maker” then three days later S.C.A.
six times Defibrillation paddles were placed on my chest.
Kidneys had shut down and other things were in play,
this morning I question why God chose me to be blessed.
Later, from a chrome drip frame hung sixteen bags,
each addressing some problem that then existed.
In seven days God reduced to one, these red flags,
and Doctors told my wife a higher power had assisted.
For five missing days, six songs, God’s Choir was singing,
and later upon awakening I didn’t fully understand.
Why others couldn’t hear them, and to life I was clinging,
My cardiologist called me Lazarus, others Miracle Man.

S. C. A. once took me, beyond my last breath,
and sixteen bags hanging from a chrome drip frame.
Circumstances took me past the point of death,
told later, you'd be dead, but it wasn't God's aim.
First came the Widow Maker then S.C.A.,
I survived each one and clinical demise.
Five day’s, I unknowingly, in deep sleep lay,
but God wasn't ready for life to finalize.
Now unaccounted for are the five days lost,
faithful prayer warriors kept on praying.
Life's final hurdle still remains to be crossed,
my only recall is of music playing.

Miracle Man’s Thoughts

Lord,
you delivered me,
From the belly of my great fish.
You made extended life a reality,
From others earthly wish.
The “Widow Maker” then S.C.A.,
Had given family little hope.
They witnessed your presence,
Extending to me a rope.
Life’s Upheavals

I’ve had both Cancer,
and Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
And after having them both,
I can readily attest.
My two worst crises,
in life they’ve been.
Cancer yanked me,
from a life of sin.
S.C.A. was likewise,
a redoubtable adversary.
Leaving things in life,
much less arbitrary.
Jesus covered my bed,
as I lay near death.
Now my vision is beyond,
drawing a final breath.
Hitting the recall button,
I see both time and place.
When Cancer stirred me,
to seek Jesus’ face.
I was living a life,
engulfed by Satan’s mire.
Cancer became the match,
that set my fields on fire.

Second Chances 2

Shortly after SCA
Had kicked my keister,
I saw my cardiologist
Just one day past Easter.
He dubbed me Lazarus
Upon entering the room,
Referring to my clinical death
I had reason to presume.
I can't forget this meeting
Nor why I didn't die,
He told me I shouldn't be here
And couldn't explain why.
He told Ernestine too much
Was going against me to survive,
But God had other plans
Prayer kept me alive.
Being referred to as Lazarus
Still brings tears to my eyes,
My leaving the hospital
Was to many, a surprise.
But God didn't want this
To be the end of the story.
He wants me to tell others,
“It's my story, and HIS Glory”

I’m one, who has survived Sudden Cardiac Arrest,
About eight percent survive this most harrowing test.
You shouldn’t be here, the cardiologist said,
For a short time ago you were clinically dead,
God extended my expiration date and I am blessed;
Your truthful words still echo ... ... ...
Within my hollow h e a r t
Like a bear within a |c|a|g|e|
As it is t o r n a p a r t
All the little pieces sca t t e r like shadows from the light.
A host of silent sentinels
With nothing left to guard
Yet the [doors] are locked
And all the windows b-a-r-r-e-d
Affirming my suspicion that you, in fact, were right.
In my soul's deepest
cellar
A place I rarely tread
I buried in a shallow grave
That thing I thought was d_e_a_d
gone
I thought I would be safe then with it from my sight.
But now if I walk by the [door]
Or if I glance inside to check
The black tendrils ~~ of regret ~~~~~
become a noose around my (neck)
As if by wicked vagabonds, I'm dragged
back into
the night.
