Mute

Mute

She bit her tongue until it bled
Leaving countless things left unsaid
Her thoughts she kept well contained
In her mind, they long remained
Her words always got stuck in her throat
Her feelings, she could not emote
She would always choke them down
Until on them, she began to drown
They weighed heavy upon her chest
The air in her lungs felt compressed
Ever time she tried to speak
Her chords trembled and grew weak
She was tired of being mute
Her voice, she no longer wanted to dilute
She wanted her own words to pass her lips
No more reading someone else's scripts
Though her voice quivered and began to crack
She spoke her truth, there was no turning back

Too Many Chances

Sorry I have to walk away
I have to leave; I can not stay
Don't want love to turn into hate
I don't want that to be love's fate

Between us I must put some distance
Even though my heart gives me resistance
I know we need to be apart
So I can keep love in my heart

So before love turns into disdain
I have to go; I can not remain
Now I must leave you behind
For my sanity and peace of mind

I can not be here anymore
Have to close this open door
I can't give you the help you need
So I must withdraw and recede

To my loyalty I can not be a slave
Keep getting heartbroken by how you behave
Too many chances I've given to you
And so this goodbye is long overdo

I Want To - With You

I want to watch the sunset with you
Gaze at the emerging moon of blue
Lie under the sky filled with stars
While we contemplate life on Mars

I want to fall asleep with you in the grass
While wishing on shooting stars that pass
Wake up to the bright new sunrise
Behold the radiance of dawn with our eyes

I want to walk with you in a spring rain shower
Cherish the moment for more than an hour
Jump and splash in puddles left behind
Smiles and laughter we will find

I want to listen to the birds with you as they sing
Enjoy the calm and serenity they bring
Watch them flying in the trees
Feeling the warm summer breeze

I want to share with you the things that bring my heart delight
From the sunrise in the morning to the moon and stars at night
To sit with you and hold your hand
While this love in my heart starts to expand

Love Sees With Eyes Wide Open

It is said that Love is blind
But Love isn't,you will find
It sees every imperfection and flaw
And yet it still remains in such awe

It doesn't demand change of who one is
Love accepts all the qualities that are his
Yet it will help a person to flourish and grow
To find the person that Love already knows

Love may witness missteps and mistakes
Yet it will not abandon, leave,or forsake
It sees mistakes as part of the Masterpiece
That's why Love endures, it does not cease

Love doesn't dwell on all the faults and wrongs
It knows that is not where it's attention belongs
Love sees with eyes wide open
To say Love is blind, one is misspoken

Your Wings Brushed My Face

I felt your wings brush across my face
When you took me into your loving embrace
I sensed your compassion when you touched my hand
My pain and sadness you truly did understand

I saw the light of hope in your eyes
Because with me you did empathize
Your voice was music to my ears
It relieved all my doubts and fears

I found contentment and peace in your smile
I knew I wasn't alone to walk this rough mile
My heart was healed by your laughter
I felt I would receive the solace I was after

In you I've witnessed genuine love
A prayer answered by God above
The moment your wings brushed my face
All my concerns and worries were erased

Fragile Broken Wings

Forgive me if I've been a little distant
To your invitations I've been resistant
Just been in need of some solitude
Had renew and adjust my attitude

I had to do a little soul healing
Come to terms with this sadness I'm feeling
Had to remind myself it won't last for long
Sooner or later this hopelessness will be gone

I needed to sort out a few things
Had to tend to my fragile broken wings
I just needed a little space
So I could get back to my happy place

It's not that I didn't really care
And time with you I didn't want to share
I just needed to be alone
So plans with you I would postpone

I needed to heal my heartsickness
So please give me your forgiveness
Sorry I had to be reclusive
But to my healing it was conducive

When All the Colors Were Bright and Bold

Can we bring back the child like imagination
When we saw the world with such fascination
When all the colors were bright and bold
Every little thing to us was gold

When we looked at everything with awe and wonder
We thought God bowling was the sound of thunder
When we still believed in fairytales
That good over evil always prevails

When we couldn't get enough of mom's butterfly kisses
Before we gave up on our dreams and wishes
When hugs from dad meant everything
Comfort and security they would bring

When we were able to speak our truth
Having the frankness and innocence of youth
When our love and affection was given so freely
And saying I love you came so easy

Be the Queen

She started with a quiet whisper in my ear
Telling me some things I needed to hear
But her whisper soon turned into a shout
"Hey girl let me your inner ***** out"

She said "Stop all the people pleasing
End all that giving in and appeasing
Quit being a doormat for people to wipe their feet
Think of yourself and cease taking a backseat

Girl you need to listen to me your inner voice
Keep getting walked on or stand up;make a choice
Being the pushover has to end
There will always be someone you offend

You have to stop playing the supporting role
It's time for you to take back control
You must begin to be true to yourself
Quit putting your needs and wants on a shelf

Become concerned with your happiness and contentment
Or you'll end up with bitterness and resentment
It's your life to live and yours alone
So start being the queen and sit on your throne"

Iron Clad Gate

When it comes to love some run hot and cold
They never give love a chance to fully unfold
Over and over again they've been a victim of rejection
So they become afraid and sparse with their affection

They tie their heart with an imaginary string
So the can reel it in before they feel loves sting
They erect a wall when they start to get close
A barrier goes up so their true feelings they don't expose

They wear this armor so their heart they can protect
Because rejection is what they ultimately expect
They're caught in a tug of war between head and heart
Should they take a risk or not even start

They push people away;make them feel ignored
When they really just want to be loved and adored
True love is what they are virtually after
To live a life full of love, joy and laughter

So subconsciously they test who is going to stay
Weed out the ones who will just walk away
They are looking for the one who will patiently wait
To give them the key to the iron clad gate

Fireflies In Glass Jars

Remember going to grandpa and grandma's house by the lake
All the fond memories there we did make
And I think the fondest by far
Was catching fireflies in a jar

We would chase their light in the tall grass
Trying to catch them in our jars of glass
Seeing who could capture the most
The winner got rights to brag and boast

We were awed by their illuminating light
To watch them gave us pure delight
In our jars we gazed at the fireflies glow
Until mom said okay sweeties time to let them go

At grandpa and grandma's we spent many summer nights and days
And one fond memory always sets my heart ablaze
All those fireflies glowing like little stars
And us chasing and catching them in glass jar

Dear Empath

Dear Empath,
I'm drawn to your loving heart
The kindness and care you impart
You give me the attention that I crave
So your tender heart I will enslave
I use your care and sensitivity
I feed on your vulnerable passivity
I keep drinking from your soul's precious cup
Your life water keeps lifting me up
Over you I will gain control
Giver and Taker we play the roles
My ego is fed when I put you down
Selfishly I want to keep you around
So with my words you I deceive
Because I never want you to leave
              Selfishly,
                        Narcissist

Dear Narcissist

Dear Narcissist,
You draw me into your illusion
Your tender kiss causes such confusion
I feel your pain and want to lift you up
I let you drink from my soul's precious cup
Depleting my cup of my life water;you keep drinking
Your self-esteem is expanding;while mine is shrinking
Your emotions I absorb as mine
Where do mine begin;I've blurred the line
I plant the seed of your disrespect
Give you all you need;what should I expect
I have a need to heal and you for acceptance
Thus leads to our unhealthy dependence
This is how our relationship will be
Until I from you I find a way to break free
                         Loving,
                                   Empath

Comfort Zone

Gotta step out of your comfort zone
You'll never know if you don't try
Take a step into the great unknown
Can't let an opportunity pass you by

You'll never know if you don't try
Start to think outside the box
Can't let an opportunity pass you by
Do something you find unorthodox

Start to think outside the box
Push the limits all the way
Do something you find unorthodox
To try but fail is okay

Push the limits all the way
Take a step into the great unknown
To try but fail is okay
Gotta step out of your comfort zone
