Song Bird's Melody

As the birds seem to be singing for me
I quietly sit in sweet serenity
I sit with warm sunshine on my face
I float and drift to a far off place

I quietly sit in sweet serenity
I listen to the song bird's melody
I float and drift to a far off place
I am reminded of God's constant Grace

I listen to the song bird's melody
As I'm witnessing God's Divinity
I am reminded of God's constant Grace
My worries with hope are replaced

My worries with hope are replaced
I sit with warm sunshine on my face
I'm finally gaining much needed clarity
As the birds seem to be singing for me

Camfires and S'Mores

Two weeks of summer camping we spent
Helping mom and dad pitch the tent
Sweet memories of campfires and s'mores
Enjoying time in the great outdoors

Walking the trails on nature hikes
Around the campground riding our bikes
Sing alongs around the campfire
Hot cocoa and a kiss before we retire

Giggling 'cause we couldn't sleep
Telling each other secrets to keep
Rising to the smell of pancakes on the griddle
Searching for the right stick to whittle

Hunting the woods for little treasures
Pinecones, leaves and a couple of bird feathers
Go to the beach water splashing
Smiles for the camera we were flashing

Packing the car time to head home
Didn't want to leave we all groan
But we have memories of campfires and s'mores
Enjoying time in the great outdoors

Some of my fondest memories as a child were the two weeks we spent camping every summer! :)

Rose Colored Glasses

I see you through rose colored glasses
And that's why I give you so many passes
I don't see any of your imperfections or flaws
The person I see puts me in such awe

I see you as absolute pure perfection
And I know it's just my heart's perception
But sometimes the heart sees what the eyes can't see
It sees all the right and let's all the wrong be

I see all the things you have conquered and overcame
All the reasons you are the person you became
I see the person you can be; the one I know you are
To me you are an illuminating bright shiny star

To me you are as bright as the sun
When I 'm around you I don't see anyone
So these rose colored glasses I must wear
Because If didn't there'd be too much glare

Comfort Zone

Gotta step out of your comfort zone
You'll never know if you don't try
Take a step into the great unknown
Can't let an opportunity pass you by

You'll never know if you don't try
Start to think outside the box
Can't let an opportunity pass you by
Do something you find unorthodox

Start to think outside the box
Push the limits all the way
Do something you find unorthodox
To try but fail is okay

Push the limits all the way
Take a step into the great unknown
To try but fail is okay
Gotta step out of your comfort zone

Dear Narcissist

Dear Narcissist,
You draw me into your illusion
Your tender kiss causes such confusion
I feel your pain and want to lift you up
I let you drink from my soul's precious cup
Depleting my cup of my life water;you keep drinking
Your self-esteem is expanding;while mine is shrinking
Your emotions I absorb as mine
Where do mine begin;I've blurred the line
I plant the seed of your disrespect
Give you all you need;what should I expect
I have a need to heal and you for acceptance
Thus leads to our unhealthy dependence
This is how our relationship will be
Until I from you I find a way to break free
                         Loving,
                                   Empath

Fireflies In Glass Jars

Remember going to grandpa and grandma's house by the lake
All the fond memories there we did make
And I think the fondest by far
Was catching fireflies in a jar

We would chase their light in the tall grass
Trying to catch them in our jars of glass
Seeing who could capture the most
The winner got rights to brag and boast

We were awed by their illuminating light
To watch them gave us pure delight
In our jars we gazed at the fireflies glow
Until mom said okay sweeties time to let them go

At grandpa and grandma's we spent many summer nights and days
And one fond memory always sets my heart ablaze
All those fireflies glowing like little stars
And us chasing and catching them in glass jar

Should'Ve Stayed In Bed

Awoke to the buzzing of my alarm clock
Didn't want to get up after sleeping like a rock
Stretched my arms up over my head
Thinking I should just stay in bed

Got up and on the bed post stubbed my toe
Oh great is this how the day's gonna go
Walked a little further tripped over my cat
On my face with a thud I fell flat

Laid there for minute and then sighed
If someone saw I would've been mortified
Finally got up from the hard floor
Now my body was aching and sore

Decided I was going to call in sick
So I made the call and made it quick
Then I stumbled back into my bed
Pulling my blanket up over my head

The Disease Called Gossip

Sometimes gossip may start out true
But each time it's passed along it gets skewed
The more lips it passes the more it's changed
The facts and story get rearranged

The whispers may come from an enemy or "friend"
Either way it's the truth they bend
Spreading the lies and gossip they've heard
Never thinking about who is being slurred

Gossip is like a disease that is spread
It infects the listener until they are misled
What they hear the start to believe
It changes the way a person is perceived

But the spread of gossip can end with you
There really is something you can do
When you hear something about someone you know
Keep it to yourself and don't let it grow

We Take All Major Credit Cards

What's with all those infomercials
Those people talking in circles
Trying to sell you stuff you don't need
Tell you their product will do this guaranteed

They are always on really late
With their shtick some poor insomniac they bait
Lack of sleep they're not thinking right
The temptation they can't fight

Get rid of those wrinkles on your face
With this cream time will be erased
Do you want to blast that belly fat
Hey we got a pill for that

You know you need that pressure cooker
We got cosmetics to make you a looker
Exercise programs for that summer body
They'll give you a six pack;make you a hottie

Order soon this is what you'll pay
Hurry act now don't delay
We'll even throw in something free
And don't forget the money back guarantee

We take all major credit cards
Our disclaimer please don't disregard
Oh yeah there's one last thing
Those shipping fees will really sting

One Brick At a Time

You patiently take down one brick at a time
From this wall I live behind
You show me how much you care
And that you always will be here
I closed my heart afraid of pain
Don't ever want to feel that again
Slowly you open the door that is locked so tight
Reassuring me every thing will be alright
Helping me let go of this fear of mine
Showing a heart so true and kind

Fragile Broken Wings

Forgive me if I've been a little distant
To your invitations I've been resistant
Just been in need of some solitude
Had renew and adjust my attitude

I had to do a little soul healing
Come to terms with this sadness I'm feeling
Had to remind myself it won't last for long
Sooner or later this hopelessness will be gone

I needed to sort out a few things
Had to tend to my fragile broken wings
I just needed a little space
So I could get back to my happy place

It's not that I didn't really care
And time with you I didn't want to share
I just needed to be alone
So plans with you I would postpone

I needed to heal my heartsickness
So please give me your forgiveness
Sorry I had to be reclusive
But to my healing it was conducive

Instant Friendship

Did you ever meet someone
And instantly a friendship had begun
Something about them you recognized
You saw it the moment you looked in their eyes
It was like a light had been turned on
And to this person you were drawn
Around them you felt comfortable in your skin
Somehow you knew you were akin
To them you felt a deep connection
It was easy to give them your affection
You felt you knew them for a long time
That your hearts and souls were intertwined
This is how I felt when I first met you
To be your friend is what I was meant to do

Iron Clad Gate

When it comes to love some run hot and cold
They never give love a chance to fully unfold
Over and over again they've been a victim of rejection
So they become afraid and sparse with their affection

They tie their heart with an imaginary string
So the can reel it in before they feel loves sting
They erect a wall when they start to get close
A barrier goes up so their true feelings they don't expose

They wear this armor so their heart they can protect
Because rejection is what they ultimately expect
They're caught in a tug of war between head and heart
Should they take a risk or not even start

They push people away;make them feel ignored
When they really just want to be loved and adored
True love is what they are virtually after
To live a life full of love, joy and laughter

So subconsciously they test who is going to stay
Weed out the ones who will just walk away
They are looking for the one who will patiently wait
To give them the key to the iron clad gate
