CHAOS IN MY CITY

Welcome to Sapele, a small city
In Delta State, Nigeria to be precise
The land of rubber, timber, oil and gas
The land of tourism
Once the most peaceful city, now terrifying
Once resourceful, now lacking and slacking.

No infrastructure, but so many hotels
Girls reside just like hostels
For prostitution
A city filled with corruption
Boys carrying out atrocity
Because of instability
Disrupting the city, causing insecurity
Just to live impressively
So many graduates without occupation
Poverty is the mother of crimes.

Camouflage everywhere
Trying to prove them competence
Over evidence
Beating and harassing
Whosoever don't go their way
But they've never apprehended a criminal
Steadily oppressing and collecting bribes
Just to feed and defend their tribes
Now you see a black man
Enslaving another black man
Just to feel superior over the minors.

INJUSTICE IN MY CITY

The crime rate in my city
Sapele City to be precise
Most comes from camouflage
Police is your friend
Bail is free
The biggest lie in history
Even when you're not guilty, you still need to pay something.

Where are your papers
You'll think it's your motor papers
But after tendering your papers
They still need another paper
Which is the money
They'll beat you or jail you
Innocently if you don't give them the money.

The police is for
Unity, peace and justice
Yet they disrupt the city
Dividing the people
Apprehending the innocent
Instead of justice
They collect money from the guilty.

There was a time
My youngest sister was defiled
Instead of apprehending the defiler
My youngest sister and my oldest sister
Who was pregnant
Was put under detention.

ANALYZING

This is Africa
A land so bless
Naturally endowed
Different cultures
A peculiar continent
But everyday steady struggle.

This is Nigeria
Land of heritage
Very resourceful
Different traditions
But only the strong survives.

This is Delta State
The big heart of Nigeria
A prominent state
With several oil Cities
But the people can't afford it.

This is Sapele City
The city of humility
Very peaceful city
But no infrastructure
They steadily belittling the people.

Wood

I was the throne at a King’s coronation
I was the cross at Christ’s crucifixion
I grew the apple for Adam and Eve
I was the first piston, would you believe!

I was the arrow that killed poor King Harold
I was the boat that discovered a new world
I was the horse that defeated the Trojans
I am the pulpit for all theologians

I am the school desk that bore your carved name
I am the kindling that starts a warm flame
I am the stake where they tied Joan of Arc
I am the beacon that brings light to the dark

I am mahogany, willow and poplar
I am sapele, cedar and alder
I am the paper that recorded your birth
I am the coffin that returns you to earth!

Have You Ever Been To Africa

Part I.
I boarded the plane I'm on my way home to Africa! seat belted and all fasten in my seat
on the plane headed for Africa!I'm on my way to Africa my travels and journeys begin.
After traveling thousands of miles going home to the motherland where I am greeted, loved
by my family and friends, with pearly white teeth and smiles. The plane is ready to land
on the blanket of mother earth Africa!I peer out the window my goodness huge trees
I see several giraffes dining on trees a swift graceful gazelle running through the
planes of Africa!I'm in West Africa Nigeria arriving in Benin my journey to Lagos
continues to my final destination to Sapele Nigeria.Africa where I will be loved
and greeted with these words,in sound like the word dough, doe, doe, doe, doe, doe, doe, doe
I will continue to say doe for all the times that have been missed,we will continue to
embrace and greet each other until someone starts to laugh
a Nigerian greeting our child has come home, back to us here in Africa!
