He sleeps in thunderstorms,
temporarily cocooned
from a fathomless death.
When his ship sunk
he had swam away from a life
to an island in his mind.
He sways hammock-less
as a crashing gale
rolls him inside an acoustic guitar,
a sea-going instrument
that can be plucked
only with lovelorn fingers.
She was a masthead once
one that led him astray.
Red grapes and red lips
had beguiled him.
He ropes her thick black hair
around his waist; makes ready
to tie himself to a rocking mast.
The night sky keeps him searching
in the dark heart of any storm;
a dream ship surfacing once more
and he knowing
he is the sea itself
rushing inward.

A crocodile-hide sunset,
a ferrous squall;
somethings boiling up there.
Storm gulls
beat mosquito clouds away
as they flee.
Ten wild horses corralled in a dumpster
hammer my fearless heart.
An anemic sky gulps for breath
near or far
a brawling trample scuffs the earth.
The dimming light drips strings
of gelid spittle.
Vaporous stalactites shred an acrid air.
Now a ferrous rain cuffs and pelts.
I hide my face from its eyes,
follow a screaming ghost
into the house.

To wake up early, happily merged with morn,
while feeling pep rushes sun-energy surged,
was to feel my eager heart joys fully merge
with each new rising ray brightly incurred.
Early mornings held no unreasonable stress -
in fact, I danced right into my dress or pants.
When motherhood arrived, I was morn-cuffed to
unyielding, demanding and hectic schedules
that blurred morning glee out of sight from me.
My heart still holds fine love for early time zeal
and remembers their fueling, exciting strums.

The Water lives and rushes through
Mighty water flows as the earth breaks into pieces
earth’s rocks and trees surge as this asphalt land tears and releases
There is a sound of the earth moaning as she is torn apart with
winds and rains wrapped in her mouthy white foam
this new creature a living cyclone breaks apart the wood and clay
dikes and dams roar as she creates her wild storms
I wonder how often this has happened due to the hand of man
Is it Mother Earth sending her forces to destroy the greed and
neglect used for mankinds larger wealth and castle homes
was this once called Noahs flood, eons ago as an ark that roamed
through the roaring waters keeping her planet creatures living
now as then in her belly she fights for life and groans
crushing the living soils, rocks, human and animal bones
giving it back to the Mother to feed her earth as she intends
taking back her resources to begin it all again.

Time, it has been said is neither enemy nor friend
It rushes by at an alarming rate to some unknown end
We can neither slow its flow nor can we accelerate it
It is its own master as it impacts one's life bit by bit
We damn it when it refuses to pause when we are late
We praise it in good times as we relish those things to celebrate
So as the clock endlessly ticks and we listen as the seconds roll by
We reflect on our lives from the beginning and the newborn baby's cry
To joyous times as we slowly search to find our place in life
To times of utter sadness filled with pain and seemingly endless strife
Finally as we reach that point in life when eyesight fades and hair turns grey
We take time to reflect and try to cherish each precious day
So time continues to rush by and we must abide by its mysterious plan
Spending each day at its mercy, living life and doing the best that we can

Oxygen Rushes In To Me
Written By Brett Somers
12-19-16
The audible plunge,
On a Somers night.
Cleansing site.
My hands free of this fight.
I leaned back to throw.
In my hand a small window.
Moon kissed a glow.
Eyes fixed beyond what I did know.
Wind whipped my ear,
Reminding me of things I didn’t want to hear.
She’d stretched my heart,
And then let it go.
Like a rubber band,
She’d let me go.
My skin bare,
Standing on shores edge.
In my underwear.
I don’t care.
Up to my waste,
A tear I could taste,
I threw my ring.
To break free of the hurting,
To break free of the hurting.
Above mountain’s silhouette it flew.
Above, with haste it knew.
Times arch has come to an end.
Now, below, brackish waters bend.
To consume this thing,
To the end,
To the end.
Fell back into a salty sleep.
My new life.
And deep my breath withheld.
My body aching to be free.
Emerged above water’s edge,
Oxygen rushes into me,
Oxygen rushes into me.

2012 is rushing upon us ,
will the great prophesy , be the right stuff
the great war with the Moslem's
is it coming to pass.
coming they say with a huff n a puff
or am i talking out of gas,
Armageddon is now perhaps ushered in
by great tragedies, yes begins
around the world ...we have this sign
Riots and slaughter not so divine
2012 perhaps if enough believe
depending on obsession
the war will tug at every sleeve
take all of our possessions
bullet holes will make a sieve
and death the pale rider
once more with death we have to grieve white light the decider

As I sit next to him I cant help but to see his veins
Blood running thick within them I look and smile
He starts to fall into an endless sleep, all that's left is his remains
His body is full of empty veins as long as a mile

Once I knew, these wonderful girls
I was saved for a time
I was foolish, and I fell
I would write them a rhyme
I was soaring, so very high
Then the broken words came
I was wounded, I was hurt
I was never the same
And the world rushed by
And the days were slow
Love rushes by
Alone with nowhere to go
Once I knew, these wonderful girls
They fixed my broken heart
I would let, my guard down
Then they pulled me a part
I was lost, for a while
With no one to guide my way
I was in need, of someone’s help
But no one would ever stay
And the world rushed by
And the days were slow
Love rushes by
Alone with nowhere to go
Now I know, a lot of friends
They tell me wonderful words
I am amazing, and I am wise
Things I have always heard
So I ask, if am so great
Then why can’t I find anyone
So I wait, for a beautiful girl
To make my life as bright as the sun
Because the world rushed by
So the days were slow
Because love rushes by
I am still here all alone

You say you love him
but is it true
or do you believe it is true
I caught him up
you don't believe me
you barely know him
and you are his girlfriend
what happens when
you find out he is cheating
are you gonna take him back
you rushed in a relationship
what do you really know about him
is he really the one
you rushed in too quick
I don't want
you to get hurt
so be careful
and get to know him
and see if he really is the one for you.
