Facing God, Assessor so great
my soul wrestles for earnest plight
midst battle for achievement flight
as I confess my undone* state.
Despite grievous sorrow and pain
my heart seeks the Lord Who makes whole
fixing glitches of undone role
toward wondrous thanksgiving gain.
Upon Christ’s inviting altar
I lay my undone goals with hope
begging for help so I can cope
since He’s my Rock of Gibraltar.
Trusting the Almighty for grace
against torture of being undone
so that good success could be won
I fix my faith to His truth’s brace.
Now, anchored by the Saviour’s stand
my spirit claims victory seal
assured of His miracles' deal
that I’ve done my best by His hand.
*Isaiah 6:5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.

I have blown by the rock of Gibraltar
and whispered to the waves of the sea
I have heard the dolphins laughter
as I travel ever free
I have been to the highest mountain
Cause I journey far and wide
I am here in every season
From me you cannot hide
In summer I will gently caress your face
But in winter I'll be fierce
I'll be there in spring's embrace
In autumn, the leaves I'll chase

It's a dull and rainy overcast day
A day to stay in and be cosy
Gaze out the window and dream of stuff
As you start to feel quite dozy
Time to write some clever rhymes
As you don your creative chapeau
Bout magical places and scary dragons
Or a scene with the sky all aglow
Maybe macabre like Edgar Allan Poe
Or happy like a Disney named Walter
Perhaps one 'bout the world's great wonders
Like the famous Rock of Gibraltar
Skies the limit let your mind run free
To a world beyond distant stars
To mythical places with exotic names
And customs strange and bizarre
Love them best, these days that inspire
Sweet visions of maidens fair
Days that expand your creative mind
As you climb those celestial stairs

At the altar, the defaulter
Recognises his slip
Firm not like rock of Gibraltar
He sees his soul stance dip
In time he'll realise
It's best to vaporise
Ascent’s when ego dies
Let's not falter
At the altar

I have heard of a Stanford Warren,
Who chose to live in lands barren,
Self submitting to predicament;
It was simply not God’s Commandment.
Warren tags it Rich Self-Denial
And swears “Decision is final!”
By full choice “Rock of Gibraltar’
“You can’t me change from your altar!”
Was he after A Transformation:
Out testing some dropped information?
Former neighbor: multi-millionaire
Former best friend stinking billionaire
He’d tried a fact-finding questionnaire
The First had slept in a dust bin,
The Second long punished his skin…
And to Fifty-Year-Old Warren
His surest bet: lands badly barren!

Be wary dear soul of lull before the storm
Languish not in comfort zone
Complacency sets in, amidst bliss caress warm
Yet crisis strikes, when we’re alone
Too late then, for us to atone
Make no mistake; the universe will test
At the least expected moment
The pure of heart lightly pass this off in jest
For the rest, it’s dark fear poignant
We turn to God, omnipotent
Yet too often, we falter at the altar
Since we choose to dwell in darkness
We stand not firm, like the rock of Gibraltar
Reflex response stuporousness
Deadened is our consciousness
Thus moment to moment, oh dear lama
Let’s hark to voice of conscience
Heart cleansed of stigma, life then no enigma
Sparkles childlike innocence
Aglow in God’s luminescence

I depend on the rock of Gibraltar
No rock like this
I know
No rock, no rock, no rock
With waters flowing so
No rock with waters flowing row
No rock to stabilize my mind
No rock is all I have ever stumbled at
No rock to bring release
No rock to stabilize me
I depend on the rock of Gibraltar
My faith depends on him
There's no rock like him
There's no rock like the rock of Gibraltar
There's no rock, no rock, no rock like him

Oh, Lord you are the Solid Ground
I stand on
In it in awe Lord you are
The Firm Foundation
Oh Lord
You're my Rock of Gibraltar
You are
More than just my all-time mountain
So I stand at the truth
And I just want to tell the whole world today
While on my knees I pray
You are, you are my firm foundation
And God, Lord you are
My Lord you are my firm foundation and it's real
Your real you give me air to breathe
Give me land that I may have
Put my feet on solid ground
You tell me to hold on, hold on
You're so real yes you are are real
You really ever so real Lord
Give me grindsted On
You're my reason I enjoy my feet
Walking on them streets
I'm at the house on the hill
Lord you keep me still
You are my cross
O Lord you keep me from being lost
You're the air I breathe
Without you I couldn't even sneeze
You're the one that I depend on
OH, Lord you are, you are
you are my firm foundation
As I am counting on you
I'm grounding oh Lord I believe in you
You are my firm foundation
And I want to tell the whole wide world
In each and every nation

Rock
Of
Steadfast
Gibraltar
State of some unions
Strengthened by love, and a strong faith
Enduring, indestructible, some relationships
Assailed again and again by the most powerful of storms, yet still remains intact

The Rock of Gibraltar stands steadfast,
A landmark to show men the way,
A sentinel post of the ages,
An emblem of quaint bygone days.
And so stand the old guard among us
Whose deeds ever echo through time.
They blazed a sure path to the future
An uncertain, strenuous climb!
But the lines on their faces betray them,
No longer can they bear the load.
So plot ye a course strong and steady
And start down the way that they showed!
They are the hallmark of freedom,
Of courage and stalwart resolve.
But you are the hope of a nation,
No problem is posed you can’t solve.
Decide now, young people, your credo
For liberty lies in your care.
Be it virtue and faith in the future
Or slothfulness, greed and despair!

An Academy Awards Affair
(To remember???)
When playing game called Academy Awards
You must learn how to use many chords
And then I started to play song's notes
People left and had to jump in their boats.
To many was really an amusing affair
But for others sure was hard to bare
As show went along and it progressed
Not impressed with way women dressed.
(Pony was born by her mother a mare.
Oh, this is a couplet not limerick.)
A few looked like Rock of Gibraltar
Others did falter needing a halter
While way men would wear their hair
Looked like a clown in a country fair.
Wanted to have hope without any fear
When awards would come back next year
To improve must be a magnificent way
Have Trump announce and a while stay
Said while my face was wearing a sneer.

What is love?
The North Star guiding
a lost seafarer home,
Or the Siren song luring
him to the rocky shores?
Is it frolicking in the moonlit night
in a field of flowers
Or trudging across
an arid, scorching desert?
Is it a freeway to bliss and joy
Or a meandering trail
through a rugged terrain
of grief and woe?
Is it a cup of hemlock
Or a chalice of nectar?
Is it a snake pit
Or a bridge over the chasm
of hatred and bigotry?
Is it an ever-elusive mirage
Or the rock of Gibraltar?
Love is all that and more,
And yet it’s nothing,
A mere emotion, a feeling –
At first blush, irrelevant
And yet,
It’s an impetus, a catalyst –
An euphoria permeating our entire being--
"Love is a many-splendored thing!"*
