Don’t anchor me here too close to shore.
I need to explore; though I’m still young,
life is a vast, boundless ocean in front of me -
perhaps precarious -
but filled with so much of the unknown
it beckons me with its fathomless allure.
Oh, how I long to plumb its depths,
for I was born for adventure.
I know you do not like to acknowledge this,
but riding life’s currents is the only school I desire.
Right now I am inexperienced;
the years in front of me are many.
Thank you for the wisdom to tie me here a while longer
with only a stone that does not a proper anchor make,
for I will grow in knowledge and in strength.
Then my determination will dislodge this killick,
and you shall watch me sail away one day.
Don’t fret, dear ones; you have raised me well.
I’ll be ready for the voyage of my life.

Sun ascending East
Vibrant energy arising heat
Flowers in full bloom radiating beauty
Early birds catching worms and morning pray
Sun scorching in between direction
Exposing all life to warm revolution
Preparing, plowing and planting seed
Governing nation's progress we all need.
Sun descending West
Flocks of birds at tree top rest
Nature lovers taking sunset stolen shots
Tired skillful hands painting horizon golden spots.

As the present year slides slowly into slumber
I shall strive, next year, to things somewhat less dumber
Than wearing my galoshes in the summer
I shall, in fact, walk barefoot on the beach
And leave my sandals so far out of reach
The seagulls I’ll impress with my loud screech
And when the bumbling bees accost the rose
I’ll spray them with the still unraveled hose
Protecting her for she’s the one I chose
Remembering the mills will surely close
I shall no longer wear “carbon based” clothes
And when arrested claim eleven toes
I shall take a vow of silence dawn to dusk
And clothe myself in eco-friendly husk
And hope the crows don’t land upon my tusk
I shall recycle all the cardboard left behind
By mobs who’d have us all think as one mind
For the man who owns the dog knows which is blind
And I shall write of joyous things, nothing off key
In the hope that happy thoughts will set me free
Unless the door is locked when I must pee

With less than three months to go
I'm the most resolute guy I know
Last January one, 2022
I resolved to my family this year to do:
Never to let a day pass me by
without giving some chocolate a try
I know it sounds tough, but I've toughed every day out
And here I am in October, successful ~ if stout

Resolute opinionated Little Miss Gertie is barely thirty
But as set in her ways as a scorched shirt burned dirty.
We used to try to get her to loosen up a tiny bit.
But she has no humor or pliability, and she can be a snit.
So we decided to leave her alone and lo and behold.
She met a male stranger, all blustery, opinionated and bold.
He was almost the same age, a resolute bachelor, quite old.
They became an item and got married, but neither would fold.
The wedding was short-lived, for neither would give an inch.
She was angry that when putting on the garter she got a pinch.
She pouted the entire wedding night and strangled his finch.
Their marriage did not have a chance; which we knew was a cinch.

Embittered winter

spreads rancor
erudite in malice.
Irreverent arbitrate

disdains masses
sardonic in verse.
Vengeful slayer
belligerent
inflicts brutality
pitiless in wrath.
Steadfast rime
unyielding
immovable blight
resolute in rage.

Moment to moment reborn
with memory imagery shorn
in as much as we can manage
residual pain within assuage
Mere recognition not the end
unless at the core ego bends
love aligned devoid of tremor
reflecting all rainbow colours
Thus the continuum timeless
its beauteous renewal endless
as both experiencer & conjurer
celebrate each throb in wonder

I’m feeling blue, but that’s OK
For I was there to start the day
But carried forth with steadfast calm
Still searching for a healing balm
I’ve found it but a time or two
And known relief, but far too few
Like pollywogs or canyon wren
It slipped my fingers, . . . gone again!
This balm won’t fit within a jar
Elusive as a fallen star
It only comes when I can say
“I’ve done my very best today!”
‘Tis then I feel that peaceful touch
That I have searched and longed for much
‘Tis then I use this balm so smooth
To heal my heart, my soul to sooth.

Unaware the battle has been won,
His every ounce of blood now gone
A fallen soldier lay upon the battlefield
His might and power not to yield
Faithful, genuine, simple and pure;
His honor required that he endure.
For those he fought, he did not hate
His now to endures that tempted fate
Must he be deemed unduly and rebuked.
His patriotism, honor and death resolute

In my cubical I sit
Strapped to perform the task for which I’ve been programmed
Molded to their way of thinking
In my cubical I sit
Twist tied in place behind this acrylic screen
A window to those who consume others like me
So we sit in our air tight cubicles
performing task not of our own making
