Negative V Positive Decision

For once in my life please

For the love of God

Relieve me of my fears

Let me accentuate the positive

And not dwell on the negative

As this week is make or break
crunch time

And all depends on the answer

So for once in my life please

Let me accentuate the positive

And not dwell on the negative

And maybe just God willing

For once in my life

I may be pleasantly surprised by
the final outcome

It can't rain all the time

And i cannot think of no better time
than this to break a habit of a life time
putting an end to my loosing streak

See what happens and life brings next

Only time will tell

If this positivity is merely temporary
that comes with a note attached

Your request for Help has been dually
noted and assessed

But i am Sorry to inform you

Request Denied

So much for positivity

But i hear they were still enquiring
about you down in negativity

Family of Fellows

Getting up early to embark on a trip,
a snowy drive to Jersey.
Trying to quell my heart's rapid beats,
favored songs in my speakers.

"Hey man, I don't want to be alone,
not for this - not again."
"I've got you, bud -
when and where?"

Visiting his grave one more time,
now two years from the day.
Thinking of stories of him,
trying to remember his voice.

Two vets talking near a silent one;
chatting about old times and new.
I think he'd like to chime in,
and wish he could so bend our ears.

I didn't have to go there solo this round,
though it wouldn't be the first or last time.
My request for help via companionship,
so swiftly asked and answered.

Some brothers don't have the same blood
that runs through your veins;
through deed they cement the same bond,
through trials they bear the same scars.

Whenever you can, find these souls,
these spirits kind and kindred;
for when you fall, you may be stunned
at the number of hands there to lift you.

Quatrain and Eve Roper Contest

Quatrain and Eve Roper Contest

Of some types of senses, don't have a grain
Especially when it comes to writing quatrain
Like it I am sure my heart will skip a beat
Wondering how to add as well as delete.

Quatrain not sure if I do understand
Maybe someone should give me a hand
Help me accomplish this awkward task
So that in sun I can continue to bask.

This request for help and aid I will send
My poem hope you can help me amend
And if it turns out not being the best
Around can design a another new contest.

May Day

Mayday, when repeated thrice,
Signifies distress.
It’s a known request for help,
The same as S.O.S.

May Day also represents
The workers of the world.
In protests, rallies and parades,
Their banners are unfurled.

The Middle Ages used this day
To celebrate the earth.
A dance around the Maypole
Generated joy and mirth.

So whether you’re a worker
And are sorely underpaid,
Or you’re on a ship that’s sinking
And you’re signaling for aid,

Or you’re happy and just waiting
To join in a Maypole fling,
Today we should acknowledge
What the first of May does bring.
