What is the point of grandma’s lullaby
if the child nestled in her arms
cannot be soothed?
Or the wail of the bagpipes,
lost as easily as the soldier’s body,
bloody and bruised.
See the shrike
and her cries in the wind,
left unheard and reproved.
By this, music is forgotten,
and seen as a mere
needle in a groove.

Like a man possessed we fight
'neath cool exteriors
a raging fire burns, day and night
We have nowhere to turn
no matter how we yearn
to parlez vous francais or habla ingles
Never quite accepted
by the whole world rejected
All our efforts reproved
ever on the move ...
I squirm and fidget
'cos I never quite fit in
Now, back in Israel
with God I dwell
I know who and what I am
back in my homeland

When amidst broken equals, we approved,
Ere a freed grain of nomadic sand slipped,
Melancholic surrendered, whole reproved,
Monitor the saved life single and stripped.
Two separate paths once joined normally,
One courses happiness, opposite naught,
Depraved, unprincipled, lived lukewarmly,
Blossomed languishes, internally fraught.
Provocative commencement surefire fade,
Arrangements, invites, sent cancellations,
Heartbreaking embattles a soul betrayed,
Evoke mother's "time out", do causations.
Solely talks like being ere his gravestone,
Passersby ask he says, "Gauging my own."

Freedom comes packaged
entrapped and confined
How big is your cage,
to roam and define
Always constricted,
with borders that move
Its bars of detention
—forever reproved

Enclosed around Almighty’s triumph-hedge
Comforted from frustrating downfall pain
Soul uplifted offers stewardship pledge
For praise-filled worship midst gratitude reign
Driven along service of great faith gain.
Secured inside great fortress* of truth fence
Heart is reproved against lurking pretense
While buttressed from skeptic mocking doubt
For serene bliss along pardon incense
Shared freely during times of reaching out.
*Psalm 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

The Locker
by Michael R. Burch
All the dull hollow clamor has died
and what was contained,
removed,
reproved
adulation or sentiment,
left with the pungent darkness
as remembered as the sudden light.

I am that even more
Walking on grounds of open shore
You can not take from me
Where I stand hard concrete foundations repeat
Remind me that what ever you try to take from me
Understanding motives shall be replaced see
How many times you try I see you clearly
Come toward me you flee from me seven times severly
Fear is not an option faith filled standards increase longevity
But you I walk away from thee
That need that urge of trying to fight me
I am reproved under kingdom authority
How is this
How does this work for me
Clarity revealed wisdom given track marks tables speed to see
I was I am I shed no tears
This is my time
This is my year

I look forward to that rising tide
The current has never been so low
That we sail in style so calm
Rest deepens without panic
The tweets sweeter than never
The sun brighter than ever
Mr sailor how did you stir on course?
Because i still see us within the radar
The arrow precisely points our destination
It has disproved our dissolution
And reproved our evaluation
Could we have crossed over the red sea
Because what i see now seems magical
Falcons hover randomly above with joy they sing
I thought it was a myth what they told us
If we keep course, we'll get to that promised land
We'll bath in milk, roost in honey and bask under the hot supplies
This i saw so real
So sad it's only a dream.

I walked by the glasshouse
Everything bad was quite apparent
I felt the stones in my pocket
That I thought I should throw
But then I felt them spike my feet
I was reminded from whence I came
The rock reproved me-
Are you so pure?
You- who were born from the dust
You -whom worms shall eat
I held my hand over my heart and my mouth
And I cried - for I recognized the rocky road
Upon which my Saviors feet did stride
I saw the pain and His bleeding feet
I saw the nail prints in His hands
And His wounded side
Then I realized something quite profound
It was not the nails that kept Him there
Bleeding out His life blood For ALL
But the ache that was in His heart
The pain of love - kept Him there-
I repented so deeply
For I understood
That it was He that has washed away my guilt
For I am forgiven - freely
And freely as I have received
I must too - freely give and feel the stones too
Under my feet.

Harsh tunes of blending sorrows
Bursts from my heart with delirious bellows
Oh! Pray I shan't be turned out
When to God, my heart I open in and out.
For I have seen the other coin in pain
And returned and desire with the world to be twain.
What groove I moved to be tested and proved
By those who my heart later reproved
And the heavy weight I pulled
When vigorously the lead of sin I dragged.
Oh! That thou wouldst forgive
And grant me that which I cannot achieve
Salvation, the greatest freedom from the world
Even as I heed and obey your Word.
