Was in a voice that I found God
In a kind tone that I found odd
Carried on the whispering wind
Speaking beautifully in the end
Was in a tome, I read downtrodden
Was in a voice that I found God
Hidden yet open amongst the pages
Full of his truth and unearthly graces
Ruled by dialects and languages
Enslaving all our human anguishes
Was in a voice that I found God
A preacher humbled me with but a nod
Tempests sway, swirl round the tower
Babel's peak speaking volumes an hour
Here, speaking naturally, this is why
It was in a voice that I found god
There is a Grace in this land
That comes from One who is close at hand.
Not from that which I can do,
But, a gift from the One whose voice is my command.
I walk through life as though a ghost,
Not knowing from one day to the next
Just what I am to do,
But, guided by One who knows that I am perplexed.
Faith and trust is the command,
I wait in hope of serving the Man,
And then a voice do I hear
Go and tell them who I AM.
Time and again I asked for His word
To let me hear in my time of fear.
In the dark I cried out,`Lord I hurt'.
Then I heard, `I'm here!'.
There is a Grace in this land
That comes from One who is close at hand.
Not from that which I can do,
But,a gift from One whose voice is my command.
Times of trouble and hurt I have seen,
By my efforts nothing could make me clean.
It was the Grace from He above,
Who saved this wretch with nothing but His Love.
There is a Grace in this land
That comes from one who is close at hand.
Not from that which I can do,
But,from a gift from One whose voice is my command
When I was about score less one,
I met with power of an immortal foe,
I say true Satan is not just a simple fun,
So I strained in vain where safe to go.
The spiteful spirit was up and down to maim my loin,
And though I ran a refuge secure could no behold;
On the verge of death some voice I heard "Of Jesus join,
And troubled man you'll be safe," so the sound told.
So a brother's Bible I borrowed and read
The rewarding deal in John's three of ten and six,
And the good they gained the saints who on right tread;
And I said, "I will with the Salvation Army mix."
But the Voice came again and I heard it say,
"The Master's will you must attain;
Be honest and repent and repeatedly pray."
And the deal was sealed with no more bargain.
That's the Covenant and how it came,
And still it's lively and will live to remain;
I will be firm and bold to avoid the blame,
Work hard and worship to the bond sustain.
And I sing praises to you
As my voice is lifted high
Where the angels reign
High above the sky
You can hear me sing
And I sing praises to you
The mighty Lord above
And though from afar
You fill my heart with love
Like a shininmg morning star
And I sing praises to you
Just as the sweet tunes
Ringing from a harp
My voice is lifted to you
And so is my heart
